Are you a medical practicioner? Can you please answer a few questions? I need a short interview from someone who works in the medical field. MD, DO, nurse, physician's assistant, or any other medical practioner with any specialty. This is for a Scientific Writing couse so the first six questions are the most important. Anything else you can tell me would be great. I need 10-15 questions answered for the assignment, so choose the questions you prefer to answer. If you only have time for the first six, that’s fine. 1) What kind of material did you have to read as a college student to get to where you are today? Anything besides textbooks? 2) What do you read now to keep you up to date with new medical practice? Medical journals? Online articles? 3) What kinds of reading do consider important for an undergraduate student interested in the medical field? 4) How long did it take to write your Masters Thesis or did you not need to write one? 5) If you wrote a Masters Thesis, what did you write about? 6) What did you publish, if anything, in undergraduate school? 7) What do you do to continue your education? 8) Did you have to go back to school to renew your license or for any reason? 9) How long did you spend in undergraduate school? 10) How long did it take to be fully certified? 11) What are rotations like? 12) How do you deal with sleep deprivation? 13) How does your job affect your home life? 14) Do you have time for hobbies at all? 15) Is it true that doctors need to know how to play golf? 16) Is there anything else it’s essential for a doctor to know that doesn’t seem obvious? 17) Are there any books you recommend for research purposes that seemed insightful about a medical issue? 18) Are there any books you’ve read, even for fun, that you can appreciate more because of your medical experience? 19) Are there any books you’ve read that give information about medical practitioners that struck you as being just plain wrong? 20) What is your name (or even an alias) that I can write down as the person I interviewed? Thank you for your time.
Can you be prescribed medical cannabis from D.C if your from Maryland? I recently learned that the district of Columbia has passed a bill allowing the use of medical marijuana. I haven't heard anything of dispensaries being built yet but I was wondering since I've looked online and saw that my conditions qualify for medical marijuana. My question is I'm from Baltimore MD and thus don't live in the actual District. So my question is do you have to live in the district of Columbia to be prescribed or can you if you live in Maryland and can drive to the doctors/dispensaries Thanks?

What type of attorney should I consult? After a recent very bad experience with MD/hospital I feel I need to consult with an attorney who specializes in patients' rights, especially since I may have to have surgery in the near future. I also need him/her to prepare an Advance Directive. What type of attorney should I see? The only kind of "medical" attorneys I see advertise online are accident/ malpractice attorneys. Thanks for your help--

Diagnostic Medical Sonography how to become one? what is the job market like? I am in purist of changing my future. Can you tell me the best school and way to go to earn my skill, knowledge, and education as a Diagnostic Medical Sonogram? I have no background or prior experience in the medical field, however I am willing to work hard and give it my all. I want to enter the health care field because it is promising and rewarding. My main objective is job security and growth. I am afraid of the review that I read online of Stanford Brown (especially the one in Landover, MD). It offers me the program that I want, however because of the reviews I am afraid. I don't want to make a costly mistake, but I am ready to enroll and do what is necessary to earn my education to start working as a professional Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Question : Does anyone know of a medical malpractice lawyer or law m.d. in Boston...Preferably a female??? Question : Does anyone know of a medical malpractice lawyer or law m.d. in Boston...Preferably a female??? Question Details: I had a baby 9months ago and seriously can't get over the horrible experience. I have never sued or brought legal action against anyone. It would take me alot more than this paragraph to explain the whole situation-but its very complicated with several different issues. Basicly as a result I feel like my life is ruined. I have a beautiful healthy baby but can't move past everything....I know i'm being vague but any referrals or assistance you can give would be great. Also if anyone knows if there are any online groups or boards w/other people seeking action against their Ob or MD i would love to speak to others. Part of the problem is the serious emotional distress that accompanied this whole mess-i'm actually ashamed to say i thought most people claiming this weren't being honest-but now see malpractice in a whole new light. I guess because our society is so "lawsuit" happy I had trouble allowing myself to truly believe that I was not treated correctly. Thanks so much.
Unexplained medical problems? I am a 22 year old male. I have always been a little overweight since I was a child. I have a history of asthma and depression, but other than that I have always been relatively healthy. In the last few years I have noticed some changes going on. Some things have been happening that have really concerned me in one way or another. I usually attribute it to anxiety and choose to ignore it. Let me start from the beginning. About 3 or 4 years ago I noticed some odd rashes on my skin. Brown in color, oddly shaped, but it was a consistent shape. it sometimes got lighter or darker but now it has almost disappeared. A few weeks ago I noticed some similar patches around my neck and shoulder area. I figured it was odd so I did what most other people do when they have a medical question but are too broke to go see a doctor... Web MD! I know reading that stuff will give you a panic attack just thinking about what you could have but hey, it was something. After checking some symptoms I googled some images of skin rashes hoping to match up what I had with someone else who had been diagnosed with something. I came across something that looked very similar, and it told me it was a lupus rash. I did some research and found out more about it but I figured the skin rash part of it was nothing to worry about and people just lived with it. However some new symptoms have me wondering. Last winter was horrible for me. I don't know what I caught but it really knocked me on my butt for about three days. I had a severe fever and fatigue, but after 3 days of rest I felt better. Unfortunately somehow I ended up with an extreme case of Bronchitis which aggravated my asthma symptoms. I started taking my asthma medication again (I had stopped for the last 5 years because I never had anymore symptoms since I was a kid) and on some nights when I felt I couldn't breathe I also took an albuterol nebulizer and my symptoms started to improve. One day I was at my fiance's house and some things started to happen. On top of my allergies to her cats I kept coughing because of this bronchitis I couldn't shake. I started having chest pains which freaked me out so I drove myself to the local Emergency Room. The diagnosis was Allergy induced asthma, and bronchitis with bronchospasms. I was prescribed a steroid (prednisone) to open up my airways and sure enough I got better. However one thing I notice now is that I sometimes feel like I don't get enough air, like I can't breathe in deep enough. It seems to happen more when I eat a lot so I have been avoiding eating as well. This really concerns me. I was not feeling well last night and I was searching online as usual for an answer. Out of the possible causes list of my symptoms (of about 50 different causes), up popped that name again. Lupus. Sigh. So I did some more searching to lupus related to some of my symptoms. These result alarmed me. I read a few personal accounts where people who had tested positive for lupus were experiencing very similar symptoms to what I have been feeling. One story was of a 10 year old girl who DIED from complications to lupus and MRSA. That scared the crap out of me. My fiance is pregnant and due later this year so I really want to make sure I am around for a long time to take care of her and my child. I just started a new job and another thing that alarmed me was when I had a drug test the report said they found trace amounts of protein in my urine. Hmm. Did some searching and the cause of that was also associated with symptoms of lupus. I am away from home for 4 weeks out of the month as an over the road truck driver and I have little time to be messing around with doctor's appointments. Do I sound crazy or do I have reason to be concerned?
Medical School admissions desperate advise required? I am currently a 3rd year Bsc. Biochemistry student in McMaster University, Canada. My GPA is 3.25 which for professional schools is very low. I request all my readers to please advise precisely with source leaving aside any information from google search/online discussion threads. 1) With my GPA, I cannot apply to Canada. So considering US medical schools, my gpa still is low. 2) The reason for my low GPA is that, every year I get about half A's and B's, but also I get one D which brings down the GPA. Although I really dislike retaking those odd courses, unless will it really ddelete the previous grade ? and will it bring up the calculated final GPA ? If I am to retake the course, I can do so in summer, will summer grades then be used in GPA calculation ? 3) I have also come to know of optometric schools that grant OD, and doctor of osteopathy OD, Dental, Pharmacy and last preferred Podiatric. Will my current GPA be a good shot for any of these professional schools. I am yet to take the Mcat, but could a good MCAT score offset a little the low GPA ? 4) All sources for these professional schools, say that a minimum of 3 year undergraduate study is required. I will complete 3rd year in April, does it mean I can give MCAT (or the test for optometry) apply this summer and get admitted this year itself ?. My friend researched and said though 3 years is required, they will not accept me with my gpa and only 3 year completed Bsc. even for optometry & dentistry, let alone osteopathic schools (DO schools) Please advise on this, as my whole purpose of doing Bsc is to get into professional school. I really don't want to spend another 4th year studying stuff that is very irrelevant in later life. Please consider this as well. As you may have noted, I really am depressed beyond words, thinking on my future which is so uncertain now and I assure that I could find no credible information on google or the websites. At one hand one optometric college website claims that the average entring gpa 2009 was 3.3, whereas the discussion forums, people claim atleast 3.50/4.0 even for non-md fields. My goal, my friends, is any one of such professional fields in preference order, MD, DO, Optometry, Dentistry, Pharmacy. Any advise (please be as detailed as you can) that you can give will help me, whom you may not even know, but I will be grateful to you beyond words. I will keep checking your answers and will keep adding any foot notes and thank you's as I read your advise, Thanks
Many questions about Medical School and/or PA school...? I've tried finding an online forum to post these in, but I can't find one with enough relevant information and users....so I'm hoping someone on here can assist. Alright, so I'm going to be blunt here....I was a pretty bad student for my first two years of college. I'm currently in my junior year now working on a degree in Liberal Arts (officially). I suppose I could change my major whenever I want...but that's not really what this is about. My current GPA is under 3.0. When I graduate, it MIGHT barely be at or above 3.0. this, of course, will make it difficult to be accepted into most medical schools from what I understand. Now, the thing is, my grades over the summer and this semester have been impeccable...also, all my grades in health-related fields have been A's (granted, its only Developmental Psychology and Biology 201 w/ lab). I am interested in the health field and already scheduled two classes that are considered prerequisites at most schools for next semester (Microbiology and Genetics). My main issue is, I don't really know how things are going to play out. I am a poor college student...and Medical school is EXTREMELY expensive. PA school is less expensive, but also less appealing to me. While I wouldn't mind working under the supervision of a licensed physician, I would especially enjoy the more challenging cases associated with an MD or a DO. I currently attend Penn State University. I am looking for guidance both on the application process: Who should I get to write letters of recommendation? For PA school, it normally lists 200-500 hours of patient-contact health care experience as a prerequisite for applying. How do you get that kind of experience? What sorts of things are schools looking for in the essay? Like I'm assuming they don't want to just read another well-written "I want to be a doctor to help people" essay. ...and on my abilities to get into a medical school or PA program. I'm looking for recommendations in or close to Pennsylvania of schools that would be reasonable for me to consider. In addition, I've had the following questions: How likely is it that a hard-working individual with a GPA <3.0 would even get an interview at a decent Medical School? How difficult are the MCATs? What about the GREs? Some PA schools require the GRE. Thanks for any help in advance!
Can I earn a MD in 5 years at Grenada? I read that this is possible online and am planning to become an anesthesiologist but I want to do it as fast as possible. I am a smart guy and work my hardest in everything I do so taking this route will not render me inferior to people who study for longer. Here is the quote, "My uncle's wife (Aunt) did it in 5 years, not including residency however. She went to a school in Grenada somewhere that did not require a college degree. She had no prior college. She did her premed requirements there in 1 year and matriculated directly into their medical school and finished that in 4 years. She got accepted into a residency program here and finished her residency in Anesthesiology and is now a practicing physician in DC. So she was able to shave off 3 years of the average 8 years to obtain the MD. This was however quite some time ago since she's been a practicing physician now for at least 6 or 7 years." Thanks for all your help! Also, I am still in high-school and am planning my career out early. PS: I live in Canada and would like to practice and possibly do my residency in Canada. http://www.sgu.edu/school-of-medicine/bsmd-dualdegree.html This is the dual degree that is offered at SGU in Grenada
What Shows are Similar to House MD? I'm in love with the show House MD ( i dont really care whether or not the medicine "practiced" is real or not) it's fantastic because it's captivating and makes you think. Well I've watched all the episodes over the summer and now am in need of a new tv show until the 5th season starts in September. I would prefer show(s) similar to House, not necessarily the medical stuff, but the non-stop action portion of the show. I dont enjoy shows like The Hills, The OC, Grays Anatomy or any of those dramatic-love-hate relationship shows. They're too predictable and just flat out annoying... So that being said, what are some good shows that are most likely available online to watch? Thanks!!
What should i put on my application as a major if...? I am currently enrolling into a college and plan on majoring as a Biomedical Engineer, yet the choices on the online registration are Applied engineering Technology Biological Sciences Science BS/MD while i know the last choice would be more of a medical dr thing i still included it as an afterthought. Which of the three would i put my major as? its biology and engineering mixed up after all..

OB GYN or MD's any advice? I'm in high school right now and I want to become an OB GYN some day. I've been taking courses that appeal to me like French, and dance and art. Next year should I use my 3 extra classes for things like anatomy and AP biology? I know it sounds ridiculous to be thinking about this at 16, but I want to either get into Loyola Medical School, Brown, or Tutf's Medical School someday and I think I could use a good head start. Do you think it would be smart for me to start taking required college courses online so when I get to college it will be faster? What's your opinion? I've already taken the basics: Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry...etc.
What shows are similar to House MD? I am in love with House (the show). My friend got me to watch the first episode and I was hooked. When I saw how many episodes there were, I thought I could never watch them all before Season 6 comes out on September 21st. How wrong I was. I actually kind of hate myself for not managing how many episodes I watched a day. I wish I had allowed myself 2 or 3 at most. Well, I finished them all, got caught up, and still have 3 months to wait. I don't think I can!!! I need some other show(s) to distract me through those 3 months of horrible waiting... So, any suggestions? I would prefer the shows to be medical (since I'm aspiring to be a doctor), but there isn't an unlimited amount of those. I can't find anywhere to watch the first few episodes of ER for free online, so any links would be great! I tried Scrubs -- so stupid! Are there any others? (Even not medical would work) I'm looking for a show with the amount of action as House. I want to be able to connect with the characters -- laugh when they laugh, cry when they cry. Also, go Huddy! Thanks for your help.
Personal Injury Medical Treatment? My Best friend was injured in a car accident. She does not have a primary physician. She went in to a chiropractor since the injury was her back and neck. The chiropractor didnt do any xray in his office or any testing although she did have xray done in urgent care the day of accident. Should she be seeking a primary MD who could recommend what treatment he or she think? I was reading other comments online where people was saying you never know if the chiropractor is doing more damage without knowing whats going on. She also had an adjustment 2 days ago where afterward she said her "sacrum" bone causing her problems when she sat on it. I am wondering if she stop going to this chiropractor will this affect her claim? Can you see whatever doctors you want?
Is Health Information Management B.S. looked down upon for Med School (DO/MD)? Currently I am finishing up my second year at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I was a Kinesiology major however now I have just applied to the Health Information Management program at UIC. Keeping my options open of course, I've been checking out other institutions that offer the same B.S. degree. I've found that DeVry University offers the program online, on-campus, or a combination of both. I know that as far as choosing a major goes, medical schools welcome them all. However, honestly, where does my desire to do a B.S. in Health Information Management stand amongst the other majors? I know I have to do my pre-med requirements which I am almost done with. Also, if in case I do not get admission into UIC's HIM program and I choose to go over to DeVry's, would choosing the ONLINE option of completing the degree affect my chances of being admitted into med schools? Are online degrees looked down upon? Is DeVry University looked down upon? Any info would help! =)
I'm scared to go to the police about my husband stealing my pain MD'S(his father is a Miami ex-detective)HELP!? I asked the following question before. I got excellent answers, however, many stated I should go to college to find better people. Just to let you know I went to college, I have a graduate degree in Accounting & I still owe $55,000 worth of student loans. I would like to change careers but I'm struggling VERY HARD with my disabilities from my car accident that happened in 2004. I have had 9 operations since & I just came home from the hospital today for the 10th time since. I went because I suffer extremely painful spasms that radiate from my brain stem to the left side of my head. I have Occupital & Trigenimal Neuralgia among other things. If I don't stop the pain the inflamation affects my motor functions & if left untreated I will have permanent brain damage. The car accident was not my fault. The person who caused this 3 car pile up on I-95 (where I was the middle car that landed on the car in front of me and then my car fell backwards) was obligated to pay me via their insurance paid their policy limit which was $100,000 within months of the accident. This just barely covered my hospital bill. My Lexus was totaled. I'm in serious debt from this accident & had to take a huge cut in pay because I physically can't handle what I used to before the accident. My employer said I'm not the same person because of all the mistakes I make (which I never did before the accident). My employer is right (acknowledged by all my doctors), thus, I also have been told by all my doctors to go on disability. I'm working on getting partial disability mainly for protection against discrimination for my current medical condition. I'm allowed to work while partial disability, The limited income threshold from receiving partial disability will help supplement from what I'm making now. As far as religious groups. I have tried but it's hard to be around people when you don't want to feel like a burden because of my ongoing medical problems. Also, the only sibling I had died in the auto accident & my parents can't handle anymore stress so sharing this problem with them would be too overwhelming for them. I know this because I have hinted enough to see what their reaction would be. Finally, I'm 37 with a 15 yr old daughter who's staying with my parents for the first time in her life while I stay close to Nova University to be a guinea pig to receive any treatment available since their a "teaching hospital" in medicine who works closely with John Hopkins. Anyways, with that said, here is my question that I posted several weeks ago. Sorry for the lengthiness. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm scared to go to the police about my husband stealing my pain meds(his father is a Miami ex-detective)HELP!? I asked this question before but apparently did not provide enough information. I do not want to snitch on my husband. I have tried to hide the medication but he gets extremely angry (but does not hit me). However, I have been a victim of domestic violence before (where my ex-husband tried to kill my family & stabbed me with a knife) so I don't know if I'm extra fearful about confronting him and/or putting my foot down; I was in counseling (as well as my family) for that for 5 years before I met my new husband who is well aware of my past. I have tried to talk to his family who not only is in denial or "tired of dealing with the problem" as they put it as long as he acts "productive" to them that's all they care about. Plus, he's a "momma's boy" so it's like he can do no wrong. The only time that I know (I suspect there were more now) that he was "busted" by them for abusing pain medication he said the pain medication was mine. However, this pain medication was something he bought online & took a much hire dose in a short period of time & when he ran out of those he vomited so much (as well as experiencing other symptoms) for 4 days before being forced to go to the hospital via ambulance (in front of his parents) & when he got there he was so dehydrated (he couldn't hold even Gatorade) that when his toxicology screen came back for opiates he was "clean." He was honest to the drs at the hospital about his opium use & that's why they suggested he see a GI doctor because his intestinal tract was in such bad shape due to ulcers from the pain med. However, since he also had food poisoning (as well as I but did not suffer because as much because I had a better GI tract) and was given antibiotics his originally suspicious parents believed that it was just food poisoning & that this non-prescribed stash was mine, which has now ruined my relationship with my in-laws even though I told them to blood test me anytime & even offer me a lie detector test. I only take my pain medication when I have spasm from MS, and now occipital & trigenimal neuralgia that I was diagnosed with after a severe 2004 auto accident for which I have had already 9 operations. I never have dealt with someone with substance abuse but due to
I have a 33 and want to be in a Condensed or Guranteed medical program.? I will have taken 10 AP courses over my high school, and I was regional finalist (one of 60 in the nation) to go to D.C. in the Young Epidemiology Scholars Competition. I went to University of Rochester for a course for high-schoolers, and went to a Mini Med school course in my local Edward's hospital. I am now taking an online course in Harvard: Neurobiology. I am also a research tech at Northwestern. My GPA is about 5.55 on my scale. I know I do a lot of extracurriculars, but my ACT score is somewhat low. I want to go to tbe BS/MD condensed programs at UMKC, UIC, Case Western Reserve, or maybe even premed at Harvard. Do You think I can Get in? What else can I do?
How much have I damaged my body? Help me feel better but please let me know the truth? I'm 20 years old and unfortunately I'm a self-destructive and stupid person. I was struggling with school and I didn't get any counseling. I tried solving my school issue by myself and began taking brain supplements because I heard all over the internet that they are extremely safe and effective. I initially gave up on buying any supplements because I had to order them online. But when I was shopping by in the supermarket I found alcar and L-tyrosine in a popular brand called "Musashi" so bought them. I took 500mg of L-tyrosine then lowered to 300mg the next day I took 500mg of Alcar for 2 days - had weird sensation on my neck from it They talk about so many benefits of Alcar all over the internet but the bad effects are hidden or not talked about. It took me a while to find that it can cause pro-oxidation in young people. I know I need to learn from my mistake but what I want to know is the truth. If I only have slightly harmed myself then I can get over it quickly. I'm mostly worried about my brain than any other of my organs. If Alcar is a powerful anti-oxidant and crosses the blood-brain barrier easily, could I have got a powerful pro-oxidant to my brain/body and aged my brain/body and increased the risk of disease/cancer? How about L-tyrosine? They sell 300mg L-tyrosine tablets in pharmacy, I only took 200mg more of it in powder form. If I have really harmed my brain and shortened my lifespan and increased my risk of disease/cancer, it's going to take a while for me to get over but it's better than not knowing and I'll learn from my mistake. I've already talked to the doctor. He scared me a lot, because he agreed that alcar causes pro-oxidation. He actually didn't stop me from taking it at first and said "keep taking it if you're feeling fine." When I told him that I stopped taking all brain supplements and that I'm worried about alcar he looked concerned and asked me "How long did you take it for?" When I told him 2 days he said because it's still a researched substance he doesn't know how much the supplement has harmed my body in 2 days but I'm still young. I told him that I have checked everywhere online from medical websites , Youtube, Wikipedia, Q&A site and livestrong but couldn't find anything about pro-oxidantion. I asked him why bacopa and alcar is both "GRAS" but alcar is more dangerous yet recommended everywhere online and in TV commercials but the information about the pro-oxidation left out, he said "It's because they want you to buy it" So for questions for people in the medical field. Is it likely that I harmed my body from taking these supplements and how much did I harm my cells/brain/organ? Is it more damage than 1 cigarrete smoke/alcohol? Thank you for reading everything and I really appreciate your help. Source: http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/26055-alcar-age-adjusted-dose-ranging/ http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/ART03059/Acetyl-LCarnitine-ALCAR.html http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-834-ACETYL-L-CARNITINE.aspx?activeIngredientId=834&activeIngredientName=ACETYL-L-CARNITINE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylcarnitine The sites above has MD recommending alcar to adults. And just one of many websites not talking about the pro-oxidation from alcar and just talks about the benefits.
Bartholin abscess drained but am concerned about . . .? I had a large Bartholin abscess drained by an ER doctor two days ago, and the ER doctor had inserted packing inside me to, I guess, keep the wound open to drain properly. She told me to go to my PCP within 48 hours to do a wound check. I went to a doctor today, and he said that it was too soon to do a wound check, since I'd just had the procedure. He needs to give me time to heal in order to check that the wound is healing properly, which makes sense to me. However, the packing is still inside me. Now, my next appointment is 9 days from now. I had asked if it was okay to have the packing inside me for that long, and the doctor said it was safe. However, I was curious to know what the material was, so I looked it up and on a medical website (not Web MD, but it was more of a site for doctors than regular people like me), it said that the packing is usually removed 24-48 hours after insertion, unless a catheter was inserted. In my case, no catheter was inserted. Should I be concerned? I don't know if I'm being superparanoid, but I'm uncomfortable with the idea of having foreign material inside my body that's not supposed to be there. The gyno said it was safe, but then I find contradictory information online. Can someone in the medical profession help reassure me? If it's safe to have it there, that's fine. Anything to help me heal faster is okay by me. But if it's not safe, can someone out there advise me?
My aunt is 55 years old and has MS and fibromyalgia, but she also has an unknown sleep disorder, please help!!? She started with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and experienced deep fatigue, but did not actually often fall asleep. This was going on for 12 years, then she would start to sleep excessively; she could only be awake for about 6 hours before she would just fall asleep for several (6-12) hours. About three years ago, her husband died, and her sleep pattern got worse. She cannot do anything because she never knows when she will fall asleep. She still only has about 6 hours she can stay awake before she just drops where she is and falls asleep (she cannot be awakened; she will not even answer the phone or doorbell, nor can her service dog wake her up) for about 6-12 hours. We have done some research online (Web MD, wikipedia, etc.), and the most exact disorder we could come up with is: idiopathic hypersomnia, which is the inability to stay asleep with an unknown cause. Also, she has seen many doctors and taken many tests, and they have ruled out narcolepsy. We have no idea what this could be, and it is really, really getting in the way of her life: she has not slept in a bed for at least three years and usually wakes up confused on the kitchen floor; she has also lost her job since, so she has no income and really needs a solution fast, because obviously her doctors are not helping, they think she is crazy, but trust me, it is happening. Please help us, whether you have medical knowledge in this field, or whether you know of someone who has had, or have had yourself, some sort of similar disorder. Any help is appreciated, thanks for your time!
How Would I Legally Obtain Necessary (Controlled Substance) Items For a Basic Field Surgery Kit? I can find all of the instruments like sutures, gloves, scalpels, etc on medical supply stores online, but I can't figure out how to buy Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injections? (This is administered as a local anesthetic). You can't order it unless you are a medical doctor with a DEA license. I'm sure other people are putting these kits together who are not doctors. I'm also pretty sure I calling my MD and asking for a 'scrip isn't going to get me anywhere either. I am not putting together a field surgery kit for "fun" and would never use it unless in an emergency situation. In addition, the circumstances during which it would have to be accessed would be such that lawsuits would be the least of my concerns. There are field surgery kit checklists out there which list the basics of what you would need, and Lidocaine hydrochloride is one of the items on it. Obviously someone is able to obtain this item, whether your own personal opinion (which by the way is not what I asked for) is that they *should* obtain it or not. My search continues....
Capture of scumbags that beheaded US troops? Have any people who were involved in the beheading (or any other form of murder) of any American troops been captured? If so, what happened to them? It's really hard to find this info online, even from "non-mainstream" sources. Also, I do not own or watch television. Thanks -medical student/surgery (MD), US Army scholarship! Go Army! Justin S- ha. No I'm not Amish. Once in a blue moon I'll watch a an episode of House or Family Guy online....once in maybe a few blue moon.
I have a problem with my breast that I can't seem to find the answer to..? I'm not sure how long this has been going on exactly, but my left breast is rather wet, almost all the time. I haven't been able to make any connections to this symptom with what I have in my diet, or what I am exposed to. The moisture is right under my nipple, and ONLY on my breast. I do not have this problem with my other breast, and that is what concerns me. It does not smell, and it is not drenched or anything, just a little moist. I know it's not sweat, otherwise I would get the same thing on my other breast, wouldn't I? This is also staining my bra, and when I don't wear a bra, it stains my shirts. The stains do not come out. There are no lumps, no pains, no rashes or any other symptoms, there is only this moisture. It does not itch. For the most part, it doesn't really bother me physically, but the fact that it is so unusual is what concerns me. If my breasts were larger than they are I may not be so concerned, but they are a large a cup or small b cup. My left breast is also slightly smaller than my right, but I don't know if that has anything to do with this. If anyone has any input, I haven't been able to find answers online or on web md or anything, and I haven't gotten around to making a doctor's appointment yet but I will within the week. Some other information that might help anyone to answer this: I am young, seventeen to be exact, and yes I am sexually active. I am not on any form of birth control, I do not take any medication or vitamins. I consume a lot of caffeine, and I live a very active lifestyle. I am healthy, as in do not have any serious medical conditions nor do I have a history of medical complications. I am not diabetic. I am mentally stable, maybe a little stressed out, but that is all.
I may have done a manicure on a woman with onycholysis. HELP!? About a month ago an elderly woman (I'm talking SEVERELY elderly..mid 80s-90s) came into my salon and asked for a manicure. Right from the start I was a little taken aback by some of her nails, they were separated from the nail plate. The woman asked me to cut them so ridiculously short, and we argued a little about it back and forth as I was not comfortable cutting her nail halfway down her nail plate! I knew something was off but couldn't pin point it right then and there. I finished her manicure, and wrote it off as an uncomfortable experience I hoped I wouldn't have to deal with again. Well she came back..and only wanted me. This time I knew I had to go home and research. I looked in my textbook from school, and it is most definitely Onycholysis. My question is where do I go from here?!!? I mean obviously Im flagging her, and letting her know she HAS to go to a MD immediately. I know that it can be caused from health reasons or a fungus. My guess is its health reasons, as she is REALLY old, and tells me she faints all the time, and has 9234098 medical issues.. But after looking online Im getting mixed reviews on whether its contagious or not! Am I going to get it now?! I sanitized my hands afterward, and followed state law sanitation on everything I used on her..and yet Im still really worried. Help!!!

As a student of biology and health, I can tell you that in today's society it's not a question of IF you will get cancer, but WHEN and if you will die of something else first. Quite honestly, I don't know how anyone could be against this charity. I truly do not understand. Well, to your article, I am not giving "for the sake of show". I truly hope to make a difference and one to find a cure for cancer. This is why I plan to become a MD, and am considering getting a PhD as well.
Marijuana users-- need some information about your future? Printer-Friendly Email This Marijuana Users Have Increased ApoC3, Triglycerides from Heartwire — a professional news service of WebMD Lisa Nainggolan Information from Industry Platelet Activation and Inhibition in Acute Coronary Syndrome – A new educational initiative on ACS. May 19, 2008 — Heavy, chronic use of marijuana causes increased levels of apolipoprotein C3 (apoC3), which in turn results in a major increase in triglyceride levels, a small study shows [1]. The findings may explain some of the vascular effects of marijuana that have been observed, say Dr Subramaniam Jayanthi (National Institute on Drug Abuse, Baltimore, MD) and colleagues in their paper published online May 13, 2008 in Molecular Psychiatry. Senior author Dr Jean Luc Cadet (National Institute on Drug Abuse) told heartwire: "A lot of people in cardiology have probably not been following the literature on marijuana, as most of it comes from the perspective of the neurologist or neuropsychiatrist. But in researching this topic, we came across a lot of papers suggesting that marijuana has acute cardiovascular effects, and we ourselves published a paper in 2005 showing that heavy marijuana users had increased resistance to brachial flow." Cadet says the new finding of a substantial increase in apolipoprotein C3 in heavy marijuana users "requires confirmation," but it should prompt doctors to ask patients about marijuana use. Marijuana is the most commonly abused drug in the US, and "most cardiologists are not thinking of marijuana as a drug with major medical toxicity," he notes, "but there is evidence of cardiovascular side effects that might be related to the elevation in apolipoprotein C3 that we saw." ApoC3: An Agent in a Complex Network? Most cardiologists are not thinking of marijuana as a drug with major medical toxicity In their paper, Jayanthi et al explain that the physiologic effects of marijuana are mediated via the active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), binding to cannabinoid receptors that are found in the brain and in the periphery, including in the heart, liver, kidney, spleen, small intestine, testes, and ovaries. Research has already shown that marijuana abuse causes increased resistance to blood flow and may increase the risk of certain cardiovascular disorders, they note. Hence, they decided to test the possibility that marijuana use might be associated with changes in serum protein levels using a new proteomic approach. They examined 18 heavy marijuana users and 24 controls and found that the marijuana users had significant increases in three protein peaks, which were identified as three isoforms of a major lipoprotein, apoC3. The latter is a cardiovascular risk factor, and the present study "has now identified apolipoprotein C3 as a possible agent in the complex network of marijuana-induced effects in humans," they note. They also found significant correlations between apoC3 and triglyceride levels. The mean triglyceride level in the 18 marijuana users was 122.0 mg/dL, compared with 91.17 mg/dL in the 24 controls. This is consistent with a previous paper--albeit 20 years old--that reported significant increases in HDL-triglyceride concentrations in marijuana users compared with controls, they note. "The observed increases in apolipoprotein C3 in the marijuana users hint of the possibility that chronic marijuana abuse could lead to impairments of cellular energetics and mitochondrial function, which are critical events associated with myocardial infarction, stroke, and ischemic/reperfusion damage," they say. In conclusion, Cadet stressed to heartwire that this is a small study, "and we'd like to see a larger group of people evaluated to see if this really holds. But in the meantime, doctors should ask patients about a history of drug abuse, and if they have been smoking marijuana, it may be worth checking triglyceride levels." Jayanthi S, Buie S, Moore S, et al. Heavy marijuana users show increased serum apolipoprotein C3 levels: evidence from proteomic analyses. Mol Psychiatry 2008; DOI: 10.1038/mp.2008.50. Broke college needs a rx!? I'm a college student, have no medical ins, and really can't afford a Dr. appointment, because I don't have a job...cause I just moved. Before I moved to where I'm currently living, I had a MD, a job with benefits and an Rx for Alprazolam (Xanax). Where can I buy this online with out an Rx? It's this or I'm going to take a walk to the wrong damn side of town...which happens to be a couple blocks from here.
help me cope and advise me please? Hi, My name is E and I need some advise. Back in 2007 I met a girl online and I went overseas to help her move to the USA. She had an MD degree and was a very good candidate to be a wife in the future. She had so many things to offer artistically and professionally. When I got there, I met the mistake of sleeping with her the same day we met at the airport. I said mistake because after that, I didnt know if she was moving to USA because of me or because she did want to validate her medical degree and work in America. She came first and i test her by saying that I was going to marry someone else and she said that it wont matter she still was going to come since my parents talk with her on the phone and they got really impressed and fell in love with her as a potential for me or my brother. I came back and I went into a big depression and she helped me cope with it and at the same time we came to be romantic and we decided to start dating and we lived to together in the basement of my parents house. Things were very well until she discovered emails from girls that I met in Colombia and that were interested in me. She got so jealous that she made me erase all my contacts from facebook that had anything to do with them and they were deleted also. She then discovered secret conversations I had in the past in chats and she became very paranoid of every single person that called or email me. She installed a spy software and also found all kind of porn (nothing illegal) and also a few tapes I made with friends in my vacations and they were naked. She said that she got traumatized and went to see a counselor and she was diagnosed with post traumatic disorder and started to take medication. I myself take medication for bipolar depression but is so under control it was hardly a problem in our relationship. She seemed to have way more problems than me since she had traumas of her parents divorcing due to infidelity and such. She still could not let go of the past and she kept and kept bringing my videos from the past almost daily in our conversations, she kept also naming the girls and she investigated more and more all of them to the point of knowing way too much and impersonating me in chats with them. I put up with all that since she still had a lot of cuteness in her way she treated me and I started to fell in love with the way she babied me all the time. Her visa was about to expire and I decided to marry her so that she could stay and then once everything evolves I would take her to church and marry her. She accepted and we went thru court and INS and she got her green card and all of that. She started working as a medical assistant and started to make money and she started to change a bit. I was unemployed and living with my parents and she felt like she was supporting me since she always paid when we went out. She didn't pay a dime at my house though and my parents help her also to ger a car since she didnt have a any credit history. Once she started to make money and have some more independence she started to go to a pentecostal church she used to go in our country and she received something called prophesy once someone imposed hand on her head. That person told her that I wasnt them man for her without even knowing me and she believed it. She started to treat me badly at times, even in front of my parents, she started to say and say that didnt believe I was going to be the dad to her kids and stuff like that. One night she went to church and I said that I wanted to go too and I went. I didnt like it and then another night the preacher was having a party and she got invited to play the violin. I said I could go and she said no because it was only for church members. I said fine, when she came back she was as nice as usual and I pretend to be asleep and she kissed me in the back of head and told me that she loved me. Next day I woke up and I told her that I love her too and that I wanted to take the opportunity that his dad was coming to the USA to get engaged. Once I said that she started to cry and said that she didnt want to marry me and she started to say that I needed a slave and bad things. I left and she picked me up later and she said that she was going to buy some stuff but didn't wanted to take me. (buying home appliances) she told me that she was gonna have to marry me and I said "you don't have to" she said that she didnt have no choice but to go thru it since there were papers in INS. I said why are you with me all this time and be nice to me and don't want to marry me? i asked her if it was because of her not paying rent and she replied that as soon she could she was going to get "hell" out the house. Then I asked for the green card process and she said that she was going to throw to my face, I said no you wont dare to live like that and she said "are you daring me that I am not to?" and I said yes I date you, and she packed all her clothes an
How to become a doctor in the USA? I'm not a U.S. citizen right now but my family might go there at the end of the year. Becoming a doctor in my home country is much easier as I know it (MBBS over here). But after checking online, it seems the process of becoming a doctor in the U.S. (MD in U.S.) is a very lengthy one and can be very difficult as well. I have finished high school last year and I'm doing first year university in my home country currently. The majors I'm doing here are hopeless and I'm doing it just to keep myself occupied. But my best shot at becoming a doctor is in the U.S. because I was not able to go to medical school in my home country because of a lack of funds. In my country, we go to med school immediately after high school and do a 6 year program. In the U.S., we have to go through college as well. Is it difficult for foreign students to become a doctor in the U.S. as I guess getting the needed funding for such lengthy and expensive studies may be very difficult. Money is a big issue and so is the extra 4 years college which we don't have over here. Time is also a big factor. Or should I give up on becoming a doctor and pursue something else in the U.S. because I understand it might be very difficult to become a doctor?
Do I have to wait 4 years to get a house!?!? Me and my boyfriend just moved to Baltimore, MD and got our own apartment. We are both only 21. I lived with my parents my whole life (they live in PA, but work in Baltimore) My dad got my boyfriend a job in Baltimore (thats the reason we moved) Currently, I am just starting to attend school for dental hygiene. I dont work but im looking for a part time job. My boyfriend has that job that my dad got him, it pays very well, and hes been there for 3 months now. Heres the thing... I HATE THIS APARTMENT!!!!! I hate everything about it, and i can only have a cat! Im allergic to them. I want a DOG! And most importantly- I want my own house!!! I saw alot online that are like 145,000 and it said 600 some a month, and thats what we pay now for rent. I want to get a house but my mom said besides needing downpayment, my boyfriend and I would never be able to get a loan. I am still a student with no job, and my boyfriend has terrible credit and has back rent, past cell phone bills, 40,000 in student loans to pay and they keep calling us lol, and medical bills to pay, so his credit is down the drain... Ill be in school for 4 more years and I really dont know how long Im going to have to wait. Any ideas!?!?! to all the ignorant people- my boyfriend cant pay his loans yet !!! he JUST started working..right now he is paying my car payment, car insurance, our rent, our renters insurance, my credit card, electric + comcast...So hes supporting me and him so he cant afford his loans right now.
How to help my depressed father? This is the first time I have ever asked for advice online. It's about my father. He goes to work at 6.30am and often comes home 7 pm. It was his birthday yesterday, we invited a few close relatives but he didn't seem to be happy. In fact it has been a long time since I have seen him happy. When I was really young ( i am 17 now) we used to go to the mountains together, went on family trips etc. He has achieved a lot in his life - he is a MD, runs a big hospital, is a part time professor at the countries first University and has published countless articles in medical publications. But he lacks so much in his social life. He virtually has no real friends (only work buddies) and has no real hobbies. Onece he even said to my mom that he doesn't see a point in coming home no more. This are very hard times for our family. I know the only hay to get through this is to work as one as a family, but there is little or no effort from my fathers side and I really don't know what to do... I would really like to help him. Please help me help him. What should I do? Well i could easily say that my parents don't get along as well as they used to.. They often talk about work( mom is a doctor too). The house is not a big mess and yes the dinner is often ready when he gets home. I don't really think he would like the idea of counseling.
does anyone here know what this is called? my back is out of alignment due to a fall injury 8 years ago. but its causing other problem, my hip on my left side [in its placement] is up higher than normal and off to the back too far. when a person normal stands up thier hips are supposed to be in a straight alignment. when i stand up my left hip twists off to the back making that whole area twist from the left to the back so that it is difficult to stand 'straight'. it makes my left leg act as if its longer than the right one [in this case with my hip placement it is], and my limp has gotten more pronounced. when i walk, people would either think i have MD or that my legs are asleep. its that bad, im not exaggerating. i want to know if anyone here knows what its called in medical terms when your hip is in this type of alignment due to back problems and weakness in the feet, hips back and legs. [im asking bcuz im trying to look it up online, but without know what its called, not having much luck] thanks. so pretty much my hip is rotated to the back and on the other side up a few inches theres a ball thingy thats moves around and is tender, but its in my back muscle. this little ball thingy [have no idea what it is] move up from my hip into my back muscle a bit.

That means all the laboratory supplies necessary for doing so. Giving a money directly to a person (by the way, very difficult to do due to HIPPA) is not the best suggestion at all in this case.

Where can I find scholarships online? Right now, my mother is single (divorced) and on Medical Disability. Because she is on MD, we get even less money a month then an average working parent. My father can't pay for child support because he's helping a daughter from a previous marriage (before my mom) pay to go to college. I have a twin brother, also, who will be going to college the same time I do (obviously, because we're twins) so, as you can see, money is unbelievably tight. My mom expects a LOT out of me. Her parents told her she'd never be able to go to college (and she was extremely poor when she was little because her parents never went to college) so she knew that she had to go, and she did. She had a friend whose parents helped pay, and then she won some scholarships and was able to recieve student loans. She went to top universities and became a computer consultant (creating programs) and she traveled the country and to other countries even with huge companies, she did all that 'til she was struck with a Brain Tumor. I want to go to college, I can't even think of myself not going. I feel like it's something I HAVE to do. I want to go into the hotel industry (business management) and work for huge hotel chains like Ritz Carlton, Hilton, and Marriotts. I love hotels, which that was actually influenced because when I was little, my mom used to travel a lot and would take me to some of the highest hotel lines around. I hope to become a hotel manager even, which I know, however, can take years. I'm a freshman in high school (just started this last monday) and I'm already taking an AP Human Geography class (our high school is now allowing freshman to take one). If I make good grades and ace the test (which is set for May 13th, Friday) then I'll earn the college credit. My goal is to get a 5, the highest score. I'm not able to work because of all the work I'm getting in my AP class. Since it's a college class, I have lots, and that means hours of studying. Even though I just started this last monday, I have my first quiz this monday (the day after tomorrow) over the first 20 pages of the textbook, which are words I don't even know, but I'm trying my hardest. **If I keep taking AP classes (which I plan to for college credit) I won't have time to even work for college. I'm only a freshman, but due to our financial position it's quite critical for me to start earning money now and keep it in a savings account. My mom is urging me to try to look for scholarships, and I know there are online scholarships I can earn through Writing Contests and other contests, etc. I know I can also win Sports Scholarships, and I'll be joining the Fillies in my school (a dance/drill team that performs at our football and basketball games, like cheerleaders in a way) so I heard that I can also get a scholarship through that. I want to go to an in-state college (UT) and I heard they had a drill team too, so hopefully I can get a scholarship for that as well. Thanks! And I'm extremely sorry that this was so long, I just thought a little background on this would be important. Anyway, thanks again for your time. *************I plan to work through college too, and since the college I want to go to is a major city, there are tons of hotels around and I can hopefully get my foot in the door by starting to work there through college.

WHY ARE PEOPLE LIKE THIS??? I am a college sophomore in a BS/MD program with a highly ranked medical school. My college places a HUGE emphasis on service. I am participating in the Light the Night walk held by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society soon. I have a personal goal of fundraising just $100 and have personally contributed $25, despite being the typical "poor college student". However, when asking my so called "friends" here for just $1-5 people refuse (with both the cash and online option). These girls will happilly spend money on Vera Bradley or iTunes songs, and the boys will happily buy knives(!), but they refuse to contribute to an amazing cause. I do not understand.
