Free Online Medical Record Storage? Hello all- I'm wondering if this exists... I'm not great at remembering things like when my last surgery was, or what dose of medications I'm on so I'm looking for a free place to store my medical records. I would want it to keep track of what diagnosis I've received, surgeries I've undergone, medicines I'm taking, vaccinations, family health history and all those other little pesky little questions they ask you when you go in for physicals. It would be nice too if it were to print off a nice little summary. Any ideas?

I'm 20, female, and I feel like my entire body is shutting down, little by little. Any links you guys can give me? Online Vets? Why do some people feel this is the place to ask questions that REALLY need to be answered by their vet? Is it because they don't have one? Some of these questions make me so upset because these pets are suffering while the people they rely on to help them are neglecting them. If they are going to go on the internet why don't they go on a vet's website and ask these questions? It is FREE to CALL your vet or an emergency vet so why don't they? What if someone gives them advice that ends up hurting their pet, not everyone on this site is qualified to answer such serious medical questions. I just had to ask why they do this because it is so upsetting to me and makes me so sad for their pets.
Question regarding medical consent forms? I am leaving tomorrow from NY to go to Ohio, to get my 8 year old brother. He will be up here until July with us, and we will have no parental rights until then (we go to court for custody in July). I need my father to sign a medical consent form, in case for any reason my brother got hurt. I have a slight problem, though. All the forms I have looked at online require the signature and seal of a notary. My father is in jail, in OH, so how do I go about doing this? I'm not sure if it differs from state to state? Could he write something out for me, with all the info I may need, or is there a free form online that would not require a notary? I don't forsee anything happening in one month, but obviously things happen, and I want to be prepared if anything does. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Let me clarify - I do NOT need his medical records. I just need my father to sign a consent form so that my brother can be treated if he is hurt, or if something happens.
Does anyone know of any free daily/weekly online or mail Bible Studies? I'm a Christian who is spiritually dry. I had an abortion last year at 6 weeks, due to medical concerns and I have had terrible depression since then. It wasn't something I agreed with or wanted to do..and I am having a hard time forgiving myself even if I did have a "reason". I'm also noticing that living in NYC is exposing me to a world of ugly RIGHT upfront (I know it exists everywhere). I don't want to become this nasty and bitter person that I have seen around here..and I am heading in that direction. I feel like when I pray, God hears me and forgives me..but I do not forgive myself or feel as though I should ask God for help because I don't feel as though I deserve it..and He has already done so much for me...is it silly to feel greedy if I keep asking for help? I'm not sure. I used to go to church as a kid/teenager and my faith has never quivered..but I am just what I call spiritually dry. I'm noticing a lot of depressing things about people and the world and I guess becoming a real "adult", if you will. I know the world is far from perfect..but I just don't want to get sucked into all of it. Can anyone suggest an online or by-mail bible study? I'm 24 and Protestant...but I'm open to Catholic stuff as well since my Mom sometimes involved us in Catholic-based stuff. (She is Catholic..my father is Baptist). Please...no rude comments. I'm only trying to better myself and not forcing anything down anyones throats. I respect everyone so please be sensitive to the nature of this question. Thanks a lot.

aggregate demand or aggregate supply? Congress passes a sweeping health care reform bill that provides free medical insurance for all Americans. Once the President signs it into law, the government will provide every American with a policy that will pay up to 80% of every medical bill a patient incurs Would this result in a shift in aggregate demand, aggregate supply or both? And what kind of shift would it be (rightward or left)? This is not my homework... I am practicing questions online before a test and I can't seem to get it.. Please explain. Thank you Thanks a lot... You guys clearly explained how the graph would change.
an online community for foster children? I myself went through 14 terrible foster homes growing up and was dumped with nothing by the state when I turned 18. I plan to spend 6 years of college to obtain my masters degree in psychology and sociology to become a social worker and change as much as I can in the system. I have alot of plans and programs already planned out that I would like to make real one day. I am very passionate about this and just realized that I would like to open a website strictly for former and present foster/adoption children. I would like to have an online community to discuss issues and connect with other ppl going through the same issues. Have listings to help get financial aid for school, free medical, food stamps, a listing of homeless shelters and food banks, places to get cheap clothing, job listings in the area, information on how to obtain birth certficates, ss cards, ect. info on how to obtain your personal file, and how to go about looking for birth families if desired. i am experience with all of these things and plan to list alot of useful websites and opportunities that other kids might know about. Now my question is would anyone visit this site? Does anyone think that this would be a useful site? I plan for it to be a free site and would come out of my personal pocket every month... p.s. feel free to email me if you would like to help me accomplish this or have ideas
Virtual/cyber charter schools in Illinois? I had asked a question yesterday about free online homeschool programs, but sha_lyn68 told me "There aren't any free online homeschool programs. The free online programs are a type of public school known as virtual or cyber charter schools." So I would like to know if there are any of these virtual or cyber charter schools in Illinois, besides the ones that are only for residents of Chicago. I live in a small town in Southern Illinois, and I'm a freshman. All of the school/programs I've found that I can attend have been private schools, and have tuition costs starting at $5000. I am by no means rich, and therefore I need a public free school. I have medical problems that have been preventing me from attending public school. I'll fail if I miss a few more days, but I'm constantly sent home for throwing up at school. I've missed almost 20 days this year. I was on the homebound program almost all of last year, but I was released by my doctor because he couldn't find what has been causing my problems. I'm sorry for the long question, but I'm desperate... Thanks for the help. I looked through the site a bit and saw "Course fees are $250 per course" so this really isn't an option for me. If no one else can find an option, I'll try to do normal homeschooling, but I'd have to be able to homeschool myself.
online doctor? does anyone know of a website that will allow me to ask a medical question and have it answered for free by a doctor/expert via e-mail or through the actual website?

How is it possible that everybody is dumb and can't understand why we're losing millions of jobs in America? The Internet has killed millions of jobs in the US. Americans are just typing away thier future. The internet is the biggest socialist communist disease that will cause our modern civilzation to collapse. If Obama follows thru with his hidden plan to shut down the internet, millions of jobs will be created overnight and trillions of dollars of missing and unpaid taxes would renter the economy. We all have become a society of freeloaders getting something for nothing. AT&T is laying off thousands of jobs and going broke because people are "Skype'ing" for free. Post Office is closing offices and laying off people guess why? Free Email? The elite rich want to fire all middle class workers and have people do everything online. Online banking so we can take the Bank Tellers job away. What about entire careers that have been eliminated such as "Travel Agents"? Now they're trying to eliminate entire job classifications such as "Tax Preparers" "Realtors" even "College Professors" everythings is now online and more efficent. Now I just saw a TV commercial for free lawyer advise just like WebMD for free medical advise. So no longer can a lawyer who went to school for 14 yrs make hundreds of dollars an hour, because people can go onliine and have thier legal questions answered for free. What about the entire music and entertainment industry going broke due to internet piracy of their songs, movies, and content, Why does anyone have to pay for a song, movie, or a CD when you can "Jack" it for free? I noticed that Hollywood Video Blockbuster all are out of business, jobs lost, commercial real estate vacant, thank to internet. Most of this nations newspaper which preserve our democracy made thier livelyhoods from classified advertising, Most newspapers are out of business or bankrupt, why? Thanks to the communist at Craigslist number one free classifeds in the entire world. Funny thing is all the things bought and sold via craigslist doesnt create a single job or a penny of tax is collected. Internet is killing our economy, our country, the middle class, and shrinking our workforce while there are more people than ever living here. In a few years from now, people will be jobless fighting on the streets for food water and shelter wondering how the economy collapsed. The funny thing is nobody, not even the President understands why we're losing all these jobs..Simple its the internet, stupid !! Wow..! I was looking to gather some intellegent responses from this in depth question. Instead I'm getting more of a compounded "Head in the Sand" response. How are all the jobs going overseas? With the help of the internet of course. Amercians have to physically get up and move in order to be productive citizens and contribute to society / economy. Before business people used to fly all across the world for business meetings, rent a car, stay at hotel, pay for airline ticket thru a travel agent. Now we just eliminated all those jobs by the same business person having an online chat for free via internet. What jobs has the internet created, what are you even talking about? A small business owner like myself can run an entire million dollar operation by myself where I would need 20 employees if I didnt have interenet. Yes I am a heavy user of internet myself but would be willing to give it up to save our country from failing.
IM buying a dog online and to me it sounds like a scam, any help? This is what he said to me. Hello, nice reading from you regarding this our adorable puppy. She is available and waiting for a family that will adopt her and provide her a loving, caring and forever home. She is 12 weeks old, , healthy,AKC registered, and current on all her medical check-ups. Health records are available and she has a two years genetic health guarantee. She is microchiped and dewormed. She has also been both house and potty trained. She is very friendly, plays around with kids and other domestic animals. She has a very good temperament. Bred and brought up in a clean environment (family house), so she tends to meet many people. She will be the perfect addition to your family. You will love her if you make her part of your family. I am giving her for free adoption to an approved home ONLY!You will take care just for the transportation and the transfer of ownership papers in your names which is $300 and as soon as i get the money,i will book her a flight to your location. Delivery will be done to your closest airport with playing toys,a crate and all paper works. I just relocated and unfortunately for me, the new apartment I moved into, does not accept pets. So i have to give her out to any good home. I have a recident permit in Los Angeles CA but i just relocated in Lakes Island Cameroon for studies, where I am presently with her. That is why you are going to pay just her transport fair for her to be transported over to you. But before we proceed,I would love to know a little more about you and your family. So if you can just let me know with the answers to the questions below, i will be grateful. How soon do you need a puppy? Are you morally and financially prepared for a puppy? Who will look after the puppy when you are not around? Do you have kids and other pets to play around with her? Do you have a vet around you?Where she will be checked constantly? Where are you located and any contact number please? I hope you get me these answers sincerely and please feel free to ask any questions about her. Some photos are attached. Hope to read from you soonest. (Then the last thing he said) He told me that the airport was going to call me and confirm that the dog is going to be shipped after i payed the guy, well someone called Unkown and was talking stuff i couldnt even under stand this is what he said to that. I dont know what happened that you did not understand what he said.I instructed them not to deliver her untill you pay me the $300.So if you are ready to pay already, then mail me back for my details. After you confirm you have paid,i will inform them to do the delivery. Thanks. then i didnt reply and he sent this. Hello, you coould pay the money via Western Union to the address below: NAMES..............................YONKEH HENRY CITY.................................. AKWA STATE ..............................DOUALA ZIP CODE...........................237 COUNTRY...........................CAMEROON AMOUNT.............................$300 You will be asked a test question and answer and so you will use TEST QUESTION...................WHOSE TEST ANSWER.....................MINE When you are through wih the payment, mail me the money transfer control number that is the MTCN so i could pick up the money. As soon as i pick it up,i will get the airport informed and she will be delivered to you. Thanks.
Are Most Efficacious Care Protocols just a Way to Automate Medical Practice? Is Evidence-Based-Medicine really just an Expert System? And should physicians who agree to be enslaved by it have their Board Certifications terminated? From what source of perfect knowledge did the Federal government become the arbiter of what constitutes medical evidence? Is the Federal Government Authorized to Practice Medicine? Here's the context? I went to the VA today to get some Plavix, which I've had a prescription for the last 6 years, due to my heart condition (chest pains). I had the chest pains for 4 years, then went on the Plavix and they stopped completely in a week and have never come back. Now I need the VA to provide my Plavix for me, for about 3 years, till I get on Medicare. The VA doctor who examined me said, I can't write Plavix for you unless you have a stent from a prior heart attack. You could have some aspirin if you like. I asked "why?" She said we at VA use evidence based medicine (most efficacious care protocols). Here are my questions: Where does "evidence based medicine come" from? How did the VA get that? Is the VA uniquely qualified in all of USA to assess medical evidence? Is the VA the only organization that knows what care is efficacious and what care is not efficacious? How did they gain this knowledge? When did they gain the knowledge? Are there published articles containing this knowledge? Are there no dissenting opinions from Board certified Doctors to those articles? If the VA really has this infinitely precious knowledge, no matter where it came from or how they got it, why are any doctors in USA allowed to write prescriptions that are not in accord with the VA's "Evidence Based Medicine"? In fact why have doctors at all? Wouldn't GS-3's be just as good at looking things up in the "Evidence Based Medicine" computer? Why bother hiring MDs? A why have medical schools? Now that the VA knows what medicine is evidence-based and what is just voodoo-based, why not put the evidence based medicine online as an expert system and let people be their own doctors? The VA tells me that they will submit my request for non-formulary medicine to the Committee. The Committee are nameless and faceless persons who have never examined me, like at least the doctor did today. All they can do is look in the "evidence-based medicine" rulebook, which says, no stent therefore no Plavix. So they read that off the screen , then the copy and paste it, and send it back to the doctor who examined me with a note "request denied". OK, I think there is no Constitutional basis for the Federal government of the USA to practice medicine at all. I think the VA Committee of nameless faceless persons may not even be doctors at all. They sure did not see me or hear me when I gave to details of my Plavix request -- family history of heart disease -- mother died of a heart attack, had heart pain for 4 years, took Plavix, it has kept me pain free for six years. All they can do is read their screen. No stent -- no Plavix. Evidence-based medicine has got to be the most tyrannical and hubristic thing the Federal government has ever tried to do. It completely cancels all the judgment of all private doctors in USA, their years of prcatice, and teaching, and clinical experience. It substitutes an expert system that is faceless and nameless but becomes the Tyrant-Czar over all medical decisions. This lunacy is going to cost me my life. I wouldn't have gone to the VA except as a last resort. If am Service-Connected 50% Disabled due to my heart condition. They want to give me an aspirin. My Plavix for the next 3 years would cost them $2,400 if they had to buy it retail, which they don't. Too costly, not for me, well unless I could just go ahead and have a heart attack, and have a stent put in for them. The Federal government practicing medicine is going to be a lot like having the postal clerks handle medicine. I earnestly hope that there is a massive class action lawsuit that goes to the U.S. Supreme Court and where "evidence-based medicine" is judicially found to be "evidence-of-hubris-based medicine". I would volunteer to be a lead plaintiff in such a case. I have an authentic case or controversy which has been resolved to my great harm (after earning my VA benefits and being a Honorably Retired Navy vet). If the VA's action does result in my death, the case will; be even stronger, and it could help other vets. What's your medical and professional opinion?

Revolution free sample box, probably a question for somebody who works in a vets office? when I took one of my kitties to the vet today, they gave me a free sample of Revolution. it was packaged in a metal box about the size of a medium sized paperback book, with a raised picture of a cream colored kitten, with the caption "start your pet off the healthy way". You open the box up and inside the lid is a magnet that you can put your own photo in, and then there's the free sample itself, and under that is a coupon, then a small pamphlet about revolution, then a little sheet you can fill in your cats medical record, and vaccinations and stuff, and then finally a little book called "101 essential tips cat care, with compliments from your veterinarian and revolution" I have only flipped through the book a couple times, but a few things caught my eye, important information that you dont always find in run of the mill cat care books. This seems to me like a pretty special thing, not your run of the mill free sample, as this sample box is more nicely packaged then the actual product. Like maybe a flea medicine collectors item lol? I looked online for information about it and i couldnt find anything, so I was hoping someone who works in a vet office might know something about this incredibly bad*ss free sample, I feel kind of honored that my vet gave it to me. I've been using Revolution for three years now and I love it, I think it's probably the best one I've used.

Do Doctors In Countries With Universal Healthcare Pay More/Less/Same For Medical School As Do Americans? I'm doing a project on American healthcare and I'm comparing America's system to other nations' universal/free/socialized (however you want to look at it) systems. I was watching a Frontline video online about healthcare in Japan and I thought of this question. I also remember a scene from Sicko when Moore was talking to a doctor (I don't remember which country but I think it was France) who said he has a pretty good life practicing medicine in a country with universal healthcare. He was talking about how that if he wants more money, he sees more patients and can therefore afford nice things. I think this will be an interesting point to bring up during my presentation if what I'm thinking is correct: Because the doctors pay less for college and medical school than Americans do (while basically learning the same things), student loans aren't putting them debt, and thus, they can focus more on helping the sick, rather than making alot of money to pay off loans. What's your opinion?
questions about military medical schools and what to now before I join? Hey I been thinking of what to do for my future really hard and I've been thinking about the military medical school. I've always been interests of what's going on in the human body and how to help/save people lives ever since 14 and what happened to me when I was a kid, after all that god sent me a message. That's Private. I'm just wondering if there's any like online courses that I can be apart of that can help me through out my school years and if it's free? that would be helpful. I'm a freshmen at brookdale community college in new jersey I'll check there of what I can do. I'm just wondering if there are like any summer classes that I can do or even now? Appreciate it if you help me out. :)
Free job training in NYC? Does anyone know of any FREE FREE FREE job training programs/schools within New York; preferably in Brooklyn or in Manhattan? (I don't want to do student loans) I'm looking for MS Office, Medical Billing/Coding, Call Center training, etc... I'm looking for clerical/office type stuff. I also need the school to provide transportation stipends (i.e. metrocards). I have looked everywhere online, made calls, visited the library, asked other people and I'm not getting anything, so I figured that I would give this a shot. (Please if you don't know of any and you know you're not going to be helpful, please bypass my question. I have seen a lot of flaming and trolling on here and it's unnecessary)
I need a legitimate way to make money online. I have serious reasons for me to be asking of this...? I am a Marine. I lost my right leg and crippled my right hand in Afghanistan at the waist from a miss fired RPG... Shrapnel that pierced my spine caused me to be paralyzed bellow the waist so my one remaining leg is now useless to me. My wife was diagnosed with cancer right before I was injured so she can no longer work. I have a five year old daughter and my GI bill is not enough to pay for us and my wife's medical bills... I need some way to make money without either leaving my home or my wife. I was given a MacBook by my old recruit and that is the only thing I can honestly use to make money. I need legitimate ways to make money online. I don't own very many things so E-bay is out of the question. I would highly prefer something where zero investment can be available. If there is a more than decent way for me to make money online where I must invest money then it can't be too much though and I must get the money from a different website. Please recommend multiple ways to make money. Stocks are out of the question because they are too risky and I have already tried to make a Iphone app and by myself it was too difficult so if there is a good free tutorial that I can be pointed to then that would be wonderful. Also hiring a team to work on it would be too expensive... Point is I need a good way to make money online or at my house. I wouldn't mind reviewing products, movies, games, phones and what not. I have some assistance that can help me review products that require my legs so any product I can honestly review and supply feed back. Back to my point, I am very desperate and willing to try many, many things to receive money... I am a Marine and I am pleading for help. Please don't be sick and post spam sites. This is serious and I don't want any ridiculous sites that can waste time that I very well need... Please be understanding...
Question about online schools? Are they any better than regular local colleges? I know for a fact that I don't have to pay any money back for the amount I recieved from my FAFSA because I am very low income. So basically, it's like free college. But, if you go to school at one of the popular online colleges like UOP or Ashford University, do you have to pay them back if you are low income? Anyone who has any experiences with online colleges, please share your experiences. Thanks! I am thinking of online because of the convenience, but am having a hard time choosing. However, if I have to pay them back, I do not have the funds, so that would cancel out the possibility completely and I would just have to make my local community college fit into my hectic schedule (which includes toddlers and a fulltime job) somehow. Thanks! I'm interested in these programs - Nursing, Medical office administration, Web Design, Accounting, computer programming. I'm not quite sure yet, but am definitely wanting to enroll into a college.
Is Kaplan Academy of California Online High School Reputable? It looks real. It says it's tuition free for people in California. http://www.kaplanonlineschools.com/academy/california/about I'm looking into online school due to medical reasons that prohibit me from being able to physically go to class everyday. I was wondering if anyone is involved with this program and knows how the instructors are. Are the instructors nice? Do they actually help teach you? Is it hard to get straight A's? I already read the FAQ on the website but I don't see the answers to any of my questions. I'll call them in a couple of days. Thanks for any information you offer. I have a 4.0 currently even though I can't go to school and I have to do my work from home. But I meet a few times a week with a teacher to make sure I'm doing everything right.
I have a 3.5 cummulative high school gpa and want to know if I could be a possible canidate for medical school? Ok I understand my question is somewhat broad but that is what I am hoping from this post, broad open ended answers. Now I also understand that on top of high school I still need to do well in college and the MCAT and I want to let every one who responds to this post know that I understand the drastic an enormous undertaking that is usually implied when one brings up the profession involving a medical personnel. Now I give you a somewhat brief description of my motivation. At the age of 8 my grandfather was diagnosed with multiple blockages of the heart he was given the normal course of action as anyone else which was a four way heart bypass after his surgery he seemed to be doing well but two years later without any warning my grandfather died not of heart trouble as the doctors so assuringly described, No my grandfather who helped me through the toughest of times died on the week of Christmas of gall bladder failure. which had been festering in my grandfathers body well before my grandfathers heart problems had occured. Of course this is indescribably saddening to me,but I only ask that you respect my post and kindly request that my past only strengthen my passion to become a accredited physican. Ok now ever since that event in my life I have been overwhelmingly determined to in a way to correct a wrong that could have been fixed or in a another way be a doctor that is more caring and would step out and run the extra mile to find not only my patients obvious problems but also any other that another doctor may have missed or misdiagnosed this is not only the kind of person I am but the kind of doctor I wish to become. Still my only question is my gpa decent enough to get into college and what are my chances on getting into a medical school if I major in biology and plan on getting a 3.7 college gpa. Also if any one has the time could you reply with a detailed guide to becoming a doctor because I've looked at many of the online guides and honestly they weren't that great and if you know a good website feel free to post those as well.
ARRRRGGGGG!!!!! When will the pain end?!? I had pretty severe pain in my wrist over 3 weeks ago and all the classic symptoms of carpel tunnel; hand/arm falling asleep, numbness, pain shooting out to forearm, etc. Being someone without insurance went to the only free medical clinic in town. The Dr. diagnosed me with carpel tunnel and told me to buy a brace and wear it for 2 weeks and it should all be good. Well,3 weeks later after wearing it pretty much constantly and a week over the suggested time took it off and it was fine for a day. But after that day the constant pain is back with a vengeance and now shooting up to my shoulder along with the numbness etc. For that one day of not having the brace on I did not use the computer, nor did any repetative motions that would cause a flare up in symptoms, actually spent the entire day lounging on the couch watching TV. There is an insane wait for the clinic and couldn't find anything online about how long one has to wear the brace so trying out here. I guess my question is this: How much longer should I wear my brace? and is it something I should go back to the clinic and get a check-up on ? Thank You!!!!
Here are some tips for boot (Marines)? Ok, I've been seeing the recruiters are still not telling enlistees very much (had the same problem). I went to boot late 2008 early 2009 so i'll do my best to help. Every platoon/company is different as far as how they do things. Also this will probably help for other branches, Also if anyone else has tips feel free to put them down. 1. First off dont do drugs before leaving!!! I know this sounds like common since tip but at boot we had 3 people drop from popping on the drug test. They might tell you in the first 2 weeks if your lucky, we had someone drop 5-6 weeks into training. Dont try getting away with it, you wont. 2. Learn your general orders out of order, meaning you should know them if I ask you whats your 5th general order, whats your 2nd general order, whats your 8th general order. You will be in the sand pit alot less if you do so. 3. Dont go to medical unless you have too, you can only miss two PT days a month. Only go if you feel like you really need to, not for a damn headache. 4. STUDY! You have different phases at boot camp, each one you have a test for that you have to pass. Study during free time, this will help. The D.I will work with you guys to help you guys pass, as much as you think they want you to go home, they want you to succeed. 5. STRETCH/Hydrate- Every chance you get do so, they claim you can drink water whenever you want, this is not true. Honestly, you dont get much time to hydrate, so when you do get the chance drink up. Stretch during free time, when you hit the rack and the D.I is in his "house" stretch in your rack, look up different stretches online and your D.I will show you some also. 6. If you dont know how to swim, learn now. If your not a good swimmer, start practicing. Swim week is hell for those that arent good swimers. Go to a local pool and tred water and just swim laps, you will be doing different strokes in full gear in the pool (camies, boots, pack, m16). 7. Learn how to speak before leaving, there were many recruits that didnt learn how to speak properly for weeks into training. What I mean by this is, speak third person (this recruit request permission to speak to drill instructor sir). Look up online for tips 8. Do not look your drill instructors in the eyes, look above their eyes slightly in the center. This sounds dumb but you will be chewing sand if you look them in the eyes. 9. Learn the M16a2 service rifle, just go online and look at charts. You will have rifle week but it will help to have some knowledge before hand. 10. Your not wearing a hat, its a cover. 11. Start learning your ranking structures now, private, pfc, lance corporal ext.... The way we learned at boot and it helped was saying E-2= PFC One strip up, E-5=Sergeant 3 stripes up cross rifles in the center 12. Its all mental, dont be a suicide/gay case alright? Its going to suck, your going to be yelled at like you've never been yelled at before. They will make you feel worse then you ever felt in your life, but once you finish a day at boot you will feel more accomplished than you ever have before. As much as you think you will be ready for boot, you wont be. Its alot to take in, but you will get use to the life style after a while. If you have any questions feel free to message me haha, No I'm not POG.

I asked a question yesterday and all i got was someone trying to get me to buy medication.? I think i may have depression. I'm not sure i was wondering if there was a free online doctor i could talk to about it to see if I need to seek further medical attention. oh and already tried all those fun online screening test had 1 tell me i need to go to my doctor or er right away and all i take gives me the number for suicide prevention hotline. i don't have a job or insurance so i can't really just up and go to the doctors and say hey i think i have depression can you check me over and see if i do? ok here's the deal i've been dealing with this since i was 12. some months are worse than others. i'm 19 now. since the begining of this year it's been getting worse. i think about suicide atleast 2 a week now if now more, but i won't do anything about it i just think about how it would feel if i did it, if i could just die to get away from everything. I hardly sleep anymore my eating habbits aren't stable, i'm constantly sore tired moody sad upset the tiniest thing sends me over the edge anymore. and i hide this from everyone in my family i only recently told my boyfriend some of it, but only cuz he's starting to notice and now he's scared and i'm scared cuz i only seem to get worse but no job no insurance i can't afford a doctor. and don't want to go to the hospital and be turned away cuz it's not serious enough to treat and be charged for spending 3 hours there while doctors twiddle their thumbs. i'm scared i don't know what to do and i'm trying to figure it out.
DOCTORS ONLY!! How is it being a doctor.? I'm interested in being a pediatrician...and everyone online or whoever i talked to just tell that it's really hard and that they get over worked a lot and that the only good thing about it is either ... 1. you get to help people 2. you get a lot of money. Every one says that most doctors regret their jobs and that they work like crazy and dont have time to enjoy life but i talked to my mom who works at a clinic and she said that the doctors that she see dont do that much and that they have free time. i really want to be a doctor but every one is really making me have serious doubts. so here is my questions. 1. do you like being a doctor ...pros and cons ( dont say anything about helping people and money) 2. do you have any free time in medical school, like to date 3. are you over worked as a doctor? 4. what are some good parts of medical school? 5. did you like residency... thanks
ok my last period was Oct7th - 11th i haven't had one since.? I have tender breasts; Cramps; mood swings; emotional; backaches like crazy; loss of appetite...i have a two year old daughter as well....today my period is 23 days late that is a long time i've never been this late; my questions are is it normal to be this late and not be pregnant; and if there is a place i can get a free test done i dont have medical insurance at the moment of if there is a place online to get a free test shipped to me...im pretty desperate i dont have morning sickness or being tired all the time..so i dont know whats going on. I just quit my job 3 weeks ago so i dont have money to get a test right now or go to the doctor. :(
Where can I get a Highschool Credit? Hi, I'm a freshman going into my sophmore year. Unfortunately I only got 9 credits out of 12 for reasons explained in one of my other questions. i live in Indiana. I needed 10 credits to be a sophmore and my problem is, I was kicked out of summer school because of being absence do to medical conditions. Two absences. the third I was taken out early for a doctor's appointment. ANYWAYS. I need to try to make up this credit A.S.A.P instead of having to be a freshman again for a semester. . Is there a FREE reliable site online that could help me take just 1 course? Or any reliable site that isn't very expensive. thanks (;
ICD-9 Coding Manuals.? Hi, I was just searching on how ICD-9 coding is done for medical billing. Now I see the database and it's pretty obvious how they are organized. My question is - what do you have to really know to tell you employwer that you know Icd-9 coding? are there free manuals online? Please let me know.

What is my mental disorder?! Schizophrenia??!? This will most definitely be a long story; but I need some help, people. Anyone not ready to honestly help someone out, get on here, and read all of this is only wasting their time being on this page. With that been said, I've known that I have some sort of issue for quite awhile now. I'm a 21 year old male and I have symptoms of a number of different things. I'm scared, unsure, and relentlessly trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with me and my brain. Around a month ago, I went to the Emergency Room because of a severe panic attack. The panic attack was worse than any one that i've ever had. I've been frequently having Panic and Anxiety. for the past month now, almost every single day. I want to live my life normally like everyone else. I don't know what to do. I've tried many different things, such as breathing techniques, techniques that i've found on websites, and reassuring myself that it is simply just anxiety and panic. Still, something seems wrong. I asked a similar question on here at Yahoo Answers, and someone answered me with their thoughts that I may have schizophrenia. Since then, I've been online searching, searching, and searching everywhere for symptoms of Schizophrenia, and have even taken some personality disorder tests that show many different disorders in relation to my symptoms. I will explain more below. I'm positive that something is wrong with my brain. I've been to the ER in Plano and in Dallas, and they've extensively checked me out for many, many different things. They checked out my heart, came back fine, they checked my blood, came back fine, they put me through CT scans and sonograms, everything was fine! They referred me to a neurologist; but I absolutely DO NOT have the money to go to one AT ALL. I am flat broke, I don't even have the money to put a down payment on a hot dog. I have no health insurance, medical care is NOT free here in the state of Texas, and I have not had the time to go get health insurance at all. I'm pretty sure health insurance DOES NOT cover mental health care, by the way. What does that mean? Well, obviously I'm here on Yahoo Answers for a good reason. I'm looking for professional opinions. I'm stressed out, I can't even think about anything BUT this at this point. Sure, I take breaks for a few hours at a time at the most... but I feel that I am obsessing over my problem. Again, I know for a fact that there is a problem that was never there before. Actually, I was chaptered out of the U.S. Army due to the symptoms of these problems that I'm about to explain. The Army has a very poor mental health program, in my personal and professional opinion, as I've had experience with them. While I was being chaptered, they only asked me if I was going to commit suicide, or if I had any thoughts of suicide. Other than that, that was it! I was discharged from the Army for Chapter 14-12B; Patterns of Misconduct. After I was discharged from the U.S. Army, I feel that my mental health has been on a continuous decline. I have lots of trouble with everyday life because of this. I just took an "Online Personality Disorder Test" by "4degreez" and that is located on this site: http://www.mental-health-today.com/narcissistic/tests.htm While I know that these tests do not take the place of an evaluation by a medical professional, I do understand that this test can be used as a reference to give one a basic idea to what COULD possibly be wrong with them, and as such, I've used this test accordingly. Based on my test results, I have many problems with my personality that have been characterized in many different personality disorders. Take note that I've answered all of these questions truthfully and actually had help from my wife to help me with my decisions on these answers. My results include: Paranoid: High Schizoid: Moderate Schizotypal: Low Antisocial: High Borderline: Low Histrionic: High Narcissistic: High Avoidant: High Dependent: Moderate Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate ***My personal opinion on each of these disorders symptoms in relation to myself.*** PARANOID PERSONALITY DISORDER ----------------------------- * Unwillingness to forgive perceived insults (50% Truth) * Excessive sensitivity to setbacks (35% Truth) * Distrustfulness and excessive self-reliance (90% Truth) * Projection of blame onto others (90% Truth) * Consumed by anticipation of betrayal (70% Truth) * Combative and tenacious adherence to personal rights (100% Truth) * Relentlessly suspicious (90% Truth) ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER ------------------------------- * Disregard for the feelings of others (90% Truth) * Impulsive and irresponsible decision-making (30% Truth) * Lack of remorse for harm done to others (70% Truth) * Lying, stealing, other criminal behaviors (55% Truth) * Disregard for the safety of self and others (0% Truth) NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER ------------------- I've been having almost all of these symptoms for about a month. "Contrary to popular belief, schizophrenia is not a split personality. Schizophrenia is a psychosis, a type of mental illness in which a person cannot tell what is real from what is imagined. At times, people with psychotic disorders lose touch with reality. The world may seem like a jumble of confusing thoughts, images, and sounds. The behavior of people with schizophrenia may be very strange and even shocking. A sudden change in personality and behavior, which occurs when people lose touch with reality, is called a psychotic episode" according to WebMD. Other symptoms are listed HERE: http://www.schizophrenia.com/earlysigns.… HERE: http://www.schizophrenia.com/diag.php AND HERE: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/paranoi… ***Some of my other "physical" symptoms include: *Sometimes my vision feels awkward. Lights feel too bright at times, making it harder to see or notice anything else except for the light. Imagine staring in the same direction of a light bulb, even if you're not looking directly at it, then turn it off and turn on a black light... It's something like that. Sometimes it feels like there isn't ENOUGH light in the room. Other symptoms include: *Severe anxiety, restlessness, and paranoia. My paranoia doesn't come from "fear of the boogey man" or of anything illogical.. but rather of my own personal health. My fear comes from fear of my heart stopping, having a heart attack, anurisms, coma, problems that could occur in my sleep, which are usually my biggest fears. My restlessness comes from the "feeling of having to do something" or feeling like something absolutely has to be done... but I'm not sure what. I also get severe anxiety from the fear of having another panic attack, or of "SDS" (sudden death syndrome) because of the fear that something is actually wrong with me. I've also been paranoid of the medical professionals, and their certain knowledge and/or experience. I know that they've gone through extensive schooling to be doctors, and have lots of experience that I don't have.. but the paranoia is still there. *Nausea. I get very nauseous usually with the anxiety, dizziness, and confusion. I haven't thrown up, but I do get nauseous. *Dizziness, clumsy. This isn't CONSTANT... but it happens at least a couple times per day. For example: I'll be sitting or laying down for a couple of hours.. i'll get up on my feet to go to the bathroom, and it feels like my equilibrium is off, like i'm going to stumble and fall down. Sometimes, I'll simply be walking and this happens 'out of the norm' as well. I know for a fact that I wouldn't be able to drive while this is going on. I haven't drove in a couple of years, my wife drives us everywhere. *Memory/concentration lapses. I'll simply be sitting here, typing on the computer, or reading, or petting my cat.. and suddenly, I'll break concentration completely and forget everything that's going on around me, and what i'm doing. This happens while I'm walking as well.. I still KNOW what i'm doing and what's going on, and where I'm going though. *Social problems. I have problems keeping friends, usually because I'm either afraid of losing them due to my sudden symptoms, or because I sometimes act in a way that offends others (usually provocative, or acting as if i'm "grandiose"). I have a severe social problem. My wife says it's because I talk to the Army too much. *Disregard of others feelings, emotions, or problems. I rarely feel any care about anyone else, other than myself. I spent nearly an entire year homeless and on the street, in and out of shelters, after I was discharged from the Army. Someone could tell me that they just had a heart attack last week.. and for some reason, I don't feel any sympathy. For example: My aunt just died about a month ago... I felt a little hurt, I cried, and of course I knew that what happened was bad, but nothing where I was bawling my eyes out. I don't think that's normal... *I've began neglecting everything around me. From my own personal heigene to my living standards. I don't even clean up my bedroom anymore. The only thing I really do anymore, is sit on this computer and sleep. This is getting way out of hand.. *Anger problems. The slightest thing can irritate me. For example: My wife was just popping her bubble gum, blowing bubbles.. I got irritated very easily and even told her to stop very sternly. Perhaps it's because it broke my concentration, but maybe it's because i'm too easily aggrivated.. Someone can criticize me, and if I don't feel that they're in the proper place to do so, I can take serious offense to it. For example, I had a buddy criticize me about my marriage with my wife, and I took major offense to it. I didn't say anything, but I was getting upset to the point to where I was ready to hit him. I get road rage as well, even though I'm not the one driving! I do have a history of violent tendencies as well. *Dependency. I depend far too much on my wife to do things for me. Cook, serve me dinner, clean up around the room, draw my shower water, find my shoes and socks, ect. This isn't normal!!!! *Lack of motivation. I feel a lack of real motivation to go find work, or go to school. I'm unemployed. I don't start school until spring. I don't FEEL the utter desire to do either/or; but I know that it must be done for success. I get excited about some of the things I do on this computer.. but other than that, nothing real. I'm not paranoid of everyone and everything... only certain things. I've had fears that there may be something medically wrong with me that no one has discovered in anyone before, and that I may be a discovery of something completely new. It all relates to my health. I've also been paranoid of certain people that has been in my life, plotting against me. My father has these same problems, and I've picked up on it because he HAS plotted against me in the past. He's talked to my wife's father, and so I feared that he may have plotted with him as well. My wife thought that her father was plotting with him, until the past few months. She's certain that her father has not plotted against us, but I'm still quite unsure due to past experiences with him. My father, her father, and I, we've had bad past experiences where we didn't get along, or we continuously talked trash about each other to others. Most of these symptoms (excluding the anxiety and panic), i've had for almost all of my life, since about 12 years old. It all started when my father got me high on Marijuana the first time. The symptoms went away for quite awhile.. but they came back a month ago when I tried marijuana again. That was a mistake that I won't ever make again.. I want to be normal again. I'm beginning to feel very depressed and sad over this. I'm confused, and am not sure of what to do. I believe in God and the Holy Trinity, and I know that they have the power to handle this... but no matter how much I pray, it seems like it isn't totally going away. Some, if not, most of it does... but sometimes it either comes back, or I begin having other symptoms. I've tried meditation as well, and it's beginning to become even more difficult to meditate. Can I concentrate during meditation? Yes, I certainly can, but the anxiety is what's bothering me. I don't have a hard time having feelings and emotions, and I don't have a hard time expressing them... I don't hear voices externally or internally, I don't see things, or hallucinate in any other way. I don't think outside of the norm, like what would and could be imagined. I'm not sure what's wrong with me; but somebody please give me an evaluation and your professional opinion. I thank all of you who took the time to read this, your time, and your consideration. If there are any questions, please either reply here with your question and I will respond through additional details, or drop me an email at surfboy280@yahoo.com
There's a classless jerk on R&S running around publicly calling me a liar because he doesn't believe I was? cured of blindness when I was young. I've told my story here a few times here, when it seems appropriate to someone's question, about how when I was a child I had an illness that nearly killed me. When I woke up out of a coma, I was partially blind, and stayed that way for 11 years. It was no fun. I doubted God, but I didn't disbelieve entirely. I left myself open to all possibilities. After many years, I did come to realize that God exits, and so I wanted a Church to go to. I said a prayer asking God to show me..and immediately learned about the Greek Orthodox Church, so went to visit. The instant I set foot on the property of that Church, that partial blindness was lifted off my eyes. I was dumbfounded, awe-struck...afraid of what would happen if I stepped back off..! But it was my clue...spiritually speaking. This is documented in my medical record..It's just something that happened to me. So this guy read it in a post recently and emailed me to say it was interesting and asked me to tell him more...so I did. Then he emailed me to demand "proof." He claims it was an inquiry, but it was a bullying demand. I informed him that it was OK with me if he didn't believe my story...that I had not told it to convince him of anything and he was free to believe or not believe, and that I thought it was inappropriate to share my private medical record with a stranger online..so I wouldn't be doing that (which he interpreted as angry and defensive...but to me it just seems sensible...!). So now he is posting public questions about how I am a liar, and blocked him when he "inquired," like as if I would want to talk to someone who insults me, calls me a liar..and tries to bully me. I think he just wants to bully me into shutting up because he doesn't story or want it to be true, or maybe his feelings were hurt when I thought better of turning my private medical record over to a complete stranger......and thinks he can publicly insult me into shutting up...Of course, all that does is make me go more public...(as in this post). I know, long story, but here's the question: what should I do about this classless, disrespectful jerk... Any ideas, suggestions, insights? I'm at a loss for what's best. Well I have a few ideas, but we won't go there....for now. Thanks. I really appreciate your help here. How do you handle classless jerks? Okay, for the guy with no legible name: the question is posted at the bottom of the post. Anonymous Viking: you misread. I HAVE medical records with this documented in them. I don't think it's appropriate for some guy to demand to see my private medical records. The fact that I'm not sharing them with a jerk doesn't mean they don't exist. They're there... nikjacru: Perhaps to help me be sure of where I am spiritually...Remember the story in the Bible about how Christ made eyes out of clay for a man born blind. People couldn't understand that either, until Christ explained it was so the works of God could be made manifest... I am SO thankful I had to endure that illness and blindness, because it lead me to a Church I have never once needed to consider changing..I'm sure of where I am spiritually in relation to God. How about you. mia: thanks for the insight. My stories are usually too long...but my writing style doesn't make them wrong...good point though. Thanks Believer: Oh thank you! Just what I needed to hear!! And Enligh: psychological distress did not cause my coma and blindness; remember: medical record.. why do you want to appease disbelievers with deception.... And so, you're saying God is Love and I experienced Love that caused me to see, but it wasn't necessarily God, even though God is Love: non-sensical. Either God is Love and so it was He, or God isn't Love. Which are you saying. You can't have it both ways, no matter how politely you try. Again Enlighe: Freud had a grand total of 6 patients in his entire career. He saw each of those 6 patients for only one hour--over his whole career....each one once for one hour. He did not have a career of offering psychological counseling. He had a career of making up weird theories of human sexuality based on those six hours on interaction with those 6 women. Maybe that's why modern day therapists don't go by Freud's theories. Orthodoxy is Truth: Thank you so much for the reminder. I have prayed for this guy. Things will become "clear" to him someday... I just really don't like that he is publicly calling me a liar when he certainly has no proof... Zena e, thank you, so well thought out and presented. Christian Army of One: (I love your name!) I do pray for this guy now, and all the people who chimed in with him to slander me. God will be working on them. I, too, have seen it happen at least a thousand times...I've even had a few people recall what they did to me when they later had occasion to "repent....." Thank you for your post and encouragement.
What should I do about my fathers condition? Hello. Well I'm not quite sure where to start. There has been so much paper trail and no medical attention or treatment. This happened about 3 years ago, my father had a mole on his neck and scratched it. Later on when he came in from work that night, after he had a shower, it began to throb. He went to the mirror and saw that it was hanging so he clipped it off. He had some crusty pallets in his ear that was uncomfortable to touch. Well, as time has gone by it has developed into a condition that has eaten a hole as big as a quarter all the way through his ear and where once was a mole is now a large mass (larger than my hand) of tissue where once was skin. This condition has spiraled. It drains, bleeds, or seeps creamy fluid. This never dries because it is on the cavity of neck so where he turns his head from side to side or catches on his shirt it cracks or begans to seep drainage or blood. He has lost at least 65-80 lbs. His appetite has decreased. He is always in pain. He has unknown chest pains, headaches, and he is always tired. He has been 3 to 4 times hospitalized for what we thought might have been heart attacks. He now has some colored spots coming up on his back, a small crusty spot on his nose, and his other ear has become infested with these crusty pallets. He was given a prescription by the hospital back when this first happened to treat this as a open wound (cephelaxin). My father was not able to take these pills because it made him very sick and he started to vomit. My father has lately started to show signs of other problems that may or may not be related to this condition. However, I am very scared that before he will get medical attention he will die. I have contacted all the resources available in his county and mine and still has not been eligible for assistance to be seen to be diagnosed or start some type of treatment to get him back to a normal state. There is so much more that involves paper work processes, denial after denial, and just no customer relations are available to help me. I have on several occassions asked for help through the social security representative and he has no answers to any questions, very impatient, rude, tells me all that he can do is have me go online and request more applications or reconsiderations or appeals and he can forward this to Austin. The hospital turned him away when we had a referral to come back as a outpatient for his neck to be examined, some tests run and cleaned by surgeon. The doctor is no longer there and the hospital has been recently seen on the local news of considerations of closing down due to bankruptcy. I am so afraid that I am going to lose my father before he is heard or seen to be determined eligibility for benefits. This condition is starting to ear my fathers ear off away from his face. I know that this is very sporatic so please feel free to ask me any questions. You are certainly welcome to contact me by email. I do have pics to show the changes or progress of what this condition has done from one visit to the next. If you would like to see them I will be happy to attach them as an email for you. Thank you for taking this time out to listen to my cry. Desperate, Jennifer
Legality of non-prescription Ultram online/questionnaire checkups and associated dangers.? To all those in the medical community: Since the age of 14 I have experienced extreme stabbing pains originating in my lower back descending down both or either leg. Furthermore, the pain often causes considerable nausea. Concerning this problem, I have visited doctors regularly for 8 years now. I was diagnosed with (what I worry is a bogus etiology) Degenerative Disk Disease. I regularly engage in core muscle exercises and stretching therapy - which although helps some; does not suffice to adequately reduce pain. I swing from strong aches to immobility. On a good day, I walk with a slight limp. On a bad day, I walk with a cane; if I walk at all. I have spent various degrees of time over the past 8 years taking medicines which include; celebrex, nuerontin, robaxin, and hydrocodone; as well as having received a spinal epidural. Currently, I am taking ultram and exercising regularly. This has kept my mind clear, as well as has not encouraged respiratory problems such as hydrocodone did. Although this regiment helps more than any previous treatment, it does not always suffice to adequately reduce pain. Recently, as I finished school; I was taking 100-150mg Ultram, 1800mg Ibuprofen, and exercising regularly. This kept me quite mobile and pain free. Upon graduation, crashed economy, not finding a job, etc – I have had to return, again, to manual labor. Again, my entire body aches/hurts constantly. Now, I exercise, take 2400 mg Ibuprofen, and up to; but no more than, 300 mg Ultram daily (still less than the FDA’s maximum daily dose of 400mg). I have had swings like this before; and am well aware that once I can return to less physical work I will be able to greatly reduce my intake. My most recent MRI states: …decreased signal intensity of the intervertebral discs at L4-5 and L5-S1, consistent with disk degeneration and decreased water content…. bulging of L4-S1 disc…. Area of altered signal involving disc – central and extends adjacent to the S1 nerve root. Most likely etiology is disc herniation with some adjacent granulation tissue or fibrosis. However, I have yet to meet a doctor who would recommend surgery or anything invasive on an individual my age. I am essentially left in limbo to do nothing but hurt – while at the same time bombarded with individuals in and out of the medical field shouting the dangers of prescription medicine use. I have recently graduated school – and am ineligible to visit my prior doctor at the University Clinic, and am again without insurance. Therefore I am unable to refill my Ultram. So now I am faced with the blissful prospect of paying $150-300 (which I don’t have) simply to speak to YET another new doctor – explain my situation – and look like a junkie because I have no prior history with this new doctor; OR purchase this medicine online and avoid the whole aggravating mess. I have put myself through college, twice, while on pain-killers. I have yet to miss a day of work or class, receive anything less than excellent grades, or damage any personal relationship due this prescription – my family is well aware of my prescription. Quite frankly in my experience with tramadol, I am unaware of any side-effect which would encourage abuse. So please do not: 1) Say; “go visit with your doctor”. I have seen thousands of individuals on this site explain they have no insurance; only to be answered with; “Pills are bad – you should go speak to your doctor”. That is both a fruitless answer; as well as ill-contemplated. If they could easily afford to speak to a doctor – they would. 2) Narrate a story of your loved ones pill habit or how addicted you are/were. I am an extremely productive member of society and it is only my distaste for excruciating pain that stands in the way of my immediate quitting. And regardless, in a week when my prescription does run out – I will be quitting; pain or no pain. At which point, I will become useless to all those around me again. My Questions: 1) I am looking for any/all recommendations for this situation. 2) What daily mg quantities indicates addiction (Approximation obviously)? 3) What would you recommend in place of exercise and Ultram? 4) Is there new research (outside of what is obviously posted on the internet) on the application of Ultram on Depression. Half the individuals on here claim it helps immensely, the other half say it only encourages their depression. All I am aware of is that since I have begun Ultram; my mood swings have diminished. Essentially every male in my family has been diagnosed with Bipolar I. Even my brother has recently been diagnosed with Cyclothymia. I appear (since 2007) to be the only male in my family who maintains a stable mood. I am not manic, sluggish, unreliable, bouncy, stoner-like, or any other adjective associated with opium use. I simply find this curious – and am enjoying my new lack of depressive lows and anxiety attacks. T

I want to kill myself. It doesn't feel rational, but I feel that I'm already committed to it.? I'm in my early, early teens. Last year, a few things in my life happened: I found out why my parents really got divorced, I had major friends issues that caused me to sever any ties with them, and I became depressed because of both of those. I'm not sure if I was really "depressed" fully, like as in the medical condition, but it felt like it. It lasted for about two and 1/2 months. I didn't want to smile, hang out with anyone, or do anything at all. I felt a lot more comfortable by myself locked up my room and making eye contact with nobody. I slowly came out of my depression, and for awhile now I have been free. But starting in about the end of March this year, things went downhill. I never told anyone why my parents really got divorced, and one night it exploded out of me. I cried and shook and yelled into my pillow. I was a mess. I feel as if I've gotten some of it off my chest, but now I think I may really have Depression. Just because its the way I am, when I feel slightly uplifted (though not much), I have the energy to go online to every medical website ever created (whether it be university, clinic, private, research facility, etc.) and looked over symptoms and took any self-evaluations. I've probably taken tens and tens of them. Every. Single. One...says I "may have" Major Depression. Recently, I've sunk to bodily harm. I haven't exactly been "cutting myself" --since I know the definition of that is to "cut deep enough to bleed"--but I've cut deep enough where I have scars. Now, the only person I've told anything to, and the only person that knows that my scars aren't "cat scratches" is my best friend who I cried to and yelled at when I have having one of my days. I think we're growing apart. We argue more than we agree, and we yell more than we have civilized conversations. This all comes down to: I'm planning to kill myself. I know that there's help, and I'm still thinking about telling my parents. But when it comes down to it, I'm already planning my suicide. And I'm barely a teenager. But that's life...for now. The question I want answered is: What. Should. I. Do? Go through with it? I'm not going to lie to myself and say I've abandoned hope. I haven't. But I'm depressed and I feel like I'm hopeless.

How Many of these Moderators are on the Purdue Cytometry Mail List? Author Topic mlinde Member United States 17 Posts Posted - February 03 2006 : 6:21:13 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm looking into flow cytometer analysis programs for the PC and I was wondering whether anyone had any insight into which programs were the most useful and worthwhile. From what I have seen, Flow-Jo and FCSexpress are the more commonly used PC programs. Does anyone have any experience with either of these programs? The other option would be to purchase another Macintosh and use CellQuest. Advice, comments, suggestions? rakeshverma Member United States 93 Posts Posted - February 04 2006 : 10:46:54 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have used CellQuest. Its a good option. Antonio68 Member Germany 20 Posts Posted - May 01 2006 : 11:48:43 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can use Summit from Dako is free and gives you the possibility to do offline compensation. However, the best flow cytometry software is FlowJo. There is a PC (Java based) and a Mac version. The Mac version for the moment is quite better. lovesthelab Senior Member United States 1028 Posts Posted - July 06 2006 : 4:59:46 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm not a PC person, but am an ardent flow person. My flow friends with PCs swear by WinMidi, which is free. If you Google for free flow cytometry software, you'll come to 2 sites, one at UMass, one at Scripps. Lots of free analysis software for the PC, maybe because BD relied on Macs for so long. mlinde Member United States WI 17 Posts Posted - August 02 2006 : 5:44:55 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As an update, I tried trial versions of FCSexpress and FlowJo and wasn't really happy with either of them compared to Cell Quest. I found FCSexpress almost impossible to work with. FlowJo was alright, but I don't think I had the time to really get the software down. That's the company's tag line. And they deliver. LOVETHELAB?************ I'm a BD flow lover, a confirmed Mac user (I tell everyone "I don't do Windows"). So why am I touting a machine made by Amnis that requires Windows? Because this instrument goes above and beyond mere flow cytometry- it shows you every event (that's cell to non-flow users) in detail. I used it and I am sold. It takes a single experiment now to do intracellular localization, in place of two. A simpler caspase activation assay. What's not to love? Even the computer quandary is solvable (the one feature I'd change: I'd have it run off a Mac) - with an Intel Mac; just get Parallels software, install Windows, and you are good to go, or rather, run. And the ImageStream can run off an Intel Mac this way too. I bought an Intel iMac just for analysis. Installation of Parallels was easy, IDEAS is about as intuitional as any flow software package. And Amnnis reps bend over to be helpful. Don't let the price tag scare you; rather, help write a shared- instrument grant (we did) for your institution to get one. It is simply amazing. The most comprehensive flow cytometry and analytical cytology website I have found. You will find resources ranging from archived protocols to request forms for the latest protocols CD-ROMs - and they are free while supplies last. Job listings, meetings, journals, latest developments- it is all here. Lectures Website Dr. J. Paul Robinson, Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, has put a compilation of lec-ture slides on a website. Some of the information is bullet statements, but the pictures are great. If you've never seen a flow cytometer, you'll see lots of them here. If you are new to flow, you'll find in-troductory slides here. Practical Flow Cytometry, Fourth Edition by Howard Shapiro, published by J. Wiley & Sons, 2003. Website Dr. Shapiro has kindly put his textbook online through Molecular Probes. It is free! Yes, you do need to register to see it, but that's all you need to do, and you have access forever. Flow Cytometry E-mail Discussion Group Website Have a question? Novices to experts, all levels of questions are welcome. This e-mail group has been invaluable to me. E-mails are archived and can be searched by topic. International Society for Analytical Cytology Website The premier society for flow cytometry, it publishes Cytometry Parts A and B (Clinical Cytometry), Case Studies in Clinical Flow Cytometry, and Current Protocols in Cytometry. These are available on-line, but you must be subscribed for access. Regular dues are US $126; fees are deeply dis-counted for students, post-doctoral fellows, and scientists from developing nations. Please consider joining. National Flow Cytometry Resource, Los Alamos National Laboratories Website Where the cutting edge happens. NFCR runs a course every June that alternates between Los Ala-mos and New England. I recommend it to the serious flow person; you will learn a tremendous amount, including how to build your own flow cytometer, if you are so inclined. FlowCyte Website This discussion group is dedicated to flow users interested in developing uniform bioinformatics standards. They are also developing analysis and statistics software for flow users. Unfortunately (being a cheap and nasty belkin) it gets horrifically unstable if we try to change too many settings on it, like assigning an SSID or using MAC address control. Who needs fixed: FEMA or the people? ? I ran across this letter online. It is from a nurse who voluntarily worked at a shelter after Hurricane Gustav. Many people search for ways to take advantage of the government, and this is only one reason why welfare reform is necessary. Question: Do you believe the following problems (regarding what people expect from FEMA and the kinds of people FEMA cares for; people's complete lack of morals or respect; etc.) can be remedied?? How?? Here is the letter: Here is a letter from a medical volunteer at one of our illustrious shelters here in Shreveport . I think she speaks very honestly and I hope something about it shows up on the O'Reilly Factor. Before everyone thinks I am a terrible, prejudiced, horrible person, just wanted to send a copy of the letter I sent to the Times editors and Bill O'Reilly. Please pray that Hurricane Ike will NOT come to Louisiana - I don't think I have the attitude of Christ yet! Sherri Dear Editor, I am a nurse who has just completed volunteer working approximately 120 hours as the clinic director in a Hurricane Gustav evacuation shelter in Shreveport , Louisiana over the last 7 days. I would love to see someone look at the evacuee situation from a new perspective. Local and national news channels have covered the evacuation and "horrible" conditions the evacuees had to endure during Hurricane Gustav. True - some things were not optimal for the evacuation and the shelters need some modification. At any point, does anyone address the responsibility (or irresponsibility) of the evacuees? Does it seem wrong that one would remember their cell phone, charger, cigarettes and lighter but forget their child's insulin? Is something amiss when an evacuee gets off the bus, walks immediately to the medical area, and requests immediate free refills on all medicines for which they cannot provide a prescription or current bottle (most of which are narcotics)? Isn't the system flawed when an evacuee says they cannot afford a $3 copay for a refill that will be delivered to them in the shelter yet they can take a city-provided bus to Wal-mart, buy 5 bottles of Vodka, and return to consume them secretly in the shelter? Is it fair to stop performing luggage checks on incoming evacuees so as not to delay the registration process but endanger the volunteer staff and other persons with the very realistic truth of drugs, alcohol and weapons being brought into the shelter? Is it wrong when a child is crying because she is uncomfortable, hungry, or thirsty, but the child's mother ignores her and says, "I aint got no money! They ain't serving food yet!" while opening a brand new package of cigarettes and texting on her $200 cell phone? Am I less than compassionate when it frustrates me to scrub vomit from the floor near a nauseated child while his mother lies nearby, watching me work 26 hours straight, not even raising her head from the pillow to comfort her own son? Why does it infuriate me to hear a man say "I ain't goin' home 'til I get my FEMA check" when I would love to just go home and see my daughters who I have only seen 3 times this week? Is the system flawed when the privately insured patient must find a way to get to the pharmacy, fill his prescription and pay his copay while the FEMA declaration allows the uninsured person to acquire free medications under the disaster rules? Does it seem odd that the nurse volunteering at the shelter is paying for childcare while the evacuee sits on a cot during the day as the shelter provides a "daycare"? Have government entitlements created this mentality and am I facilitating it with my work? Will I be a bad person, merciless nurse or poor Christian if I hesitate to work at the next shelter because I have worked for 7 days being called every curse word imaginable, feeling threatened and fearing for my personal safety in the shelter? Exhausted and battered, Sherri Hagerhjelm, RN No, I don't believe FEMA should stop helping people, but I think people need to help themselves a little too. And I don't mean there's "a few" people out there like this (like the first answer states). The country is packed full with uncaring, bitter, ignorant, hostile, abusive people who can barely take care of themselves; but they choose to care better for themselves than for the children they have. They have no common sense, and I've noticed it's usually because they choose not to have common sense...they get more free stuff that way.
I need MAJOR advice! I am 22 years old and I am stuck living with my mother with no way out!!!!!? I live with my mother, I am 22 years old, I also live with my 15 year old sister and last my 3 year old sister....... My mom has been in relationships that somehow ruined our lives in some way. Now that me and my sister is older were stuck with a 3 year old toddler! Yes I love the new sister........but my 15 year old sister goes to school and no longer helps me because summer is over!!! I have extra chores because of her too! I have been job searching for 6 months and feel my luck is about to change soon...........problem is I can no longer use my mothers phone number as a call back number!!!! In other words she wants a free babysitter right at home. She can't afford day care costs either since its just her! I know if I did get a job she would charge me 300 a month on a 8 an hour job when I have to pay for a medical bill..........it was stress related and now I have this sad 1000 bill, so yea I need a job for that, school, and to save up so I can move out, and with this going on I won't be able to go to college this December!!!!!!!! I will be stuck watching a toddler as my life goes by, my mom says everyday I will be home until am 35 years old.....and she is serious! Things that I have tried: Posting online asking someone could I use their phone number as a call back number, and all they had to do was e-mail me the time of my interview and I would go.........but people think I am a stalker or a nut case who is lying : ( Then the famous question is how can I be online? Um....library and had to walk a 20 min walk with my little sister here! we have a computer, but my mom has a password on it. What can I do??? I found a job where I could watch my sister, but then at night sneak off to work until I save enough to move out! But no phone! we moved to a new state.......I know no one yet. I came from Florida and I am here in Texas now, but even in Florida......my uncle lives off women, my nana decided to keep my other sister because she enjoys going to church......even though she tried to harm me..... so in general no family, and the friends I had there were in worst shape!!! I only have 10 dollars exactly. I know wrong section. I don't feel like an adult at all.......its unfair! Teens even have more freedom then me! My teen years were just as bad!
I'm sending something from an ebay purchase. What's the best Post Office shipment method? Thanks!? I'm sending a camcorder (roughly 1-2 pounds, package much less than 84" like lenght+ girth is like 20" or so) so would I send it "Parcel Post service"Package" (as opposed to large package or somethign)? Also, HUGE idea. Would a flat rate box be cheaper than doing Parcel Post??? Really need to figure this one out. thanks! It's not exactly media but it "makes media" so I don't think I can send it Media Mail, right? I could send it priority, but then it'd be more expensive. Also HUGE question. I'm likely going to Ship Parcel Post (package/large envelope method). How exact do I need to be with the weight? Like it's a around 4-5 pounds to ship. If I'm one pound off, like if I say it's 5 pounds and it's really 4 or really 6, what happens (if it's 4 I think I just would've paid extra, will they return it if it's 6 and I said it was 5)? I guess The Safest most precise thing to do is package it all up in box and then just weight everything I'm sending on a precise post office scale to get exact weight and then plug the exact weight into the printing of the shipping label?? thanks! I thought of looking up the item on amazon which shows exact weight and shipping weight, but really it's combined too items so the combined shipping weight of both would be less than the combined two individual ones (because less boxes and packaging, consolidated) so I think i'll have to weight it at the post office just to be sure. Just trying to figure out the best configuration to print my own shipping label (I like doing it yourself and I learn more and it's cheaper and I got ripped off last time I tried to send parcel from ups at the store). Also....HOW EXACTLY does the cost of sending Post office packages occur? LIke is it more based on distance (further away zip code)? What's the formula? thanks! Here's my Okay game plan, get box from Albertson's fruit market, put item in box and weight it at shell station, try to get free packaging tape, go home enter in weight and dimensions of packaged box into shipping label page, print label, go back to shell and send it! Anyone willing to proofread my essay on Internet Identities? This is my essay so far. Thanks! Understanding Our E-Identity Online social networks are constantly growing in popularity. Teenagers and adults alike are logging into these e-communities every day. Who are the real people that we see online? Do their internet indentities portray their true self, or are their webpages merely a compilation of facts chosen to bolster the way others view them? I believe that the pages people post online are a reflection of their true identities strategically planned for a particular audience. In order to analyze the difference between real and online identities, we must first think about how people act in real life. We do not act the same way all of the time. Different audiences bring different attributes into the situation. An example of this is as simple as comparing the way we act around our parents to the way we act around our friends. Most people act responsible and refined around their parents while they may act immature, silly, and fun loving around their friends. This is not because we have more than one identity, but because we control our identities to fit our audience. Just as we control our identities in real life, we do the same online. Different websites are aimed at different audiences. Likewise, the people posting information on those social websites are going to portray themselves in the best possible light for their audience. For example, I saw a video on Youtube.com about a man who went to the mall with a sign that said “free hugs” and randomly gave hugs to people. Although it was inspirational to many, that man does not actually give free hugs to random people at the mall every single day. It was simply a reflection of a part of his identity in the best possible light. Youtube.com was an effective place for the video because it is a general website where everyone can post their work. On the other hand, if he had posted the video on a hate group’s website, he would probably not have been effective at all and the people viewing it would not think very highly of him. In these ways, we can see that the way we act in reality is very similar to the way we act online. Although we do act very similarly online and in real-life, it is still easy to see online more words of hate than we would normally in reality. Many have been curious as to why people tend to leave these hate messages. It is not because they are different people online. They still have the same identity as they would anywhere they went. One of the differences is the luxury of anonymity that online social networks provide. The anonymity online allows people to tap into a more hateful part of their personalities and make it public without the fear of somebody actually doing something about it. The other difference is the wide variety of social networks online compared to reality. Online, there are millions of websites, many of which we can actually interact in. This means that people are able to search for only websites that interest them such as a doctor logging into a medical website to discuss health with other health professionals. Because there are so many websites, it is easy to find an interactive one that matches our interests, whether they are good or bad. The similarities between online and real-life interactions are very important to understand. If scientists used that information, it could be a base for more research. We could learn answers to questions like: How many parts make up our whole identity? Are there dangers in unleashing certain parts of our identities to others? Why do we show different sides of our identities to different people? If in the future we can answer these questions, it will help us to understand ourselves and others better. In this way, it is very important to understand and recognize the similarities between online and real-life social interactions.
How do you spend less money? What are things you have done to save money? I've many so many changes since two years ago, so I'm listing everything I'm doing now that I used to not do before. Here goes: Electricity -I unplug everything that is not in use. I save about half of my electricity. -I try to do all or most of my homework during the day. When its dark, I go to the library which is 2 minutes away and closes late so I wont use the lights at home. -I use my laptop and I charge it at school, library, or starbucks. -Over the summer, forget the air conditioner. I use a fan (and I always turn it off when I leave the room) or I stay outside and go hang out in air conditioned places. -My family tends to stay in the same room so we have the lights on in only one room at a time -We use fluorescent lightbulbs. They use so much less energy (75% less) and last a lot longer than regular ones (I used to have to replace my bulbs every 2-3 months. Now with fluorescent lightbulbs I haven't had to replace it in over two years) Extra Expenses -I dont have internet. I use someone else's wireless. -I don't have cable. You can find almost any show online at Hulu.com or something. Maybe even youtube. Besides, getting rid of cable means you'll have the TV turned on less often and you'll save electricity. -I used to have netflix and paid $20 a month. Then I realized I can get almost all of these movies for free at the library! For those movies I cant get at the library, netflix has this thing where you can put your account on hold for 90 days at a time. -When I go to the movies, I buy a child's ticket at the machine (they rarely really check anyway) and I see more than one movie at a time. Transportation -Since I live in New York City, we dont have a car. That way we dont have to pay $300+ monthly on parking. -For New Yorkers, sharing an unlimited metrocard with friends and family saves so much money. Food and household products -I always eat at home and I take my own lunch to school -When buying groceries or household items, I never get anything full price. Always one sale! -Eat less. I used to overeat a lot. I spent so much money on food and I got sick more. Now I eat normally and I spend less money on food and medical expenses and I have a better body. -It's really cheap, but I usually go into fast food restaurants and take napkins. I haven't bought paper towels in over a year. -I go to Costco's often (I carpool with friends) and I save SO much money. -I dont buy water bottles. $1 a day or twice a day is too much. I save $30-$60 per month and I buy a refillable SIGG bottle and get water from home. -I dont usually buy name brands. Medical -To avoid constant trips to the doctor's office, I have a notebook full of questions so I can ask him all these questions in one visit. When he prescribes something, I ask him for samples. If I need to get the prescription, I avoid the pharmacy and get them online. Much cheaper. Pets -They're really expensive. Expect to pay over $60 monthly on food alone. One annual check up with the vet can easily cost you $300. Emergencies/medications/surgeries can cost you thousands of dollars. If you dont have pets, then I suggest you keep it that way. But if you really want one or you already have pets and dont want to find them a new home (like me!), then you can still save. -I always buy my cats things on sale. And I mix their litter with shredded paper. That way one 25lb box of litter lasts about 4 months. -Don't overfeed your pets. Same reason you shouldnt overeat. More food expenses and more health issues. Entertainment/ Vacation -You dont always have to spend money. Hang out with friends at home, have a picnic (money on food, but that's minimal if everyone pitches in). -There are places that are free on certain days. For example, here in NYC, the bronx zoo is pay what you wish on wednesdays. For me that means free. The Met museum of art is always pay what you wish. -I tend to go on vacation when prices are cheaper. So I avoid holiday vacations and long weekend vacations. Living Space -If you're really short of cash, which many New Yorkers are, you can always rent a spare bedroom. You'd be surprised at how much people would pay for a bedroom in NYC. I also don't use toilet paper at all. I just wait until I shower the next day to clean myself. Just kidding. Since I started doing all these things, we've saved up at thousands of money annually. I just wanted to put some of these ideas out there and maybe find out what other people are doing? Dan, I get what you mean, and I've thought of it too. But when we share metrocards, its not like we go out of our way to share it. We usually have different schedules. I commute in the morning and she commutes at night, so we thought it didnt make sense to buy two metrocards. If we needed to though, we would buy a second one. And I figured if someone didnt want someone else to use their wireless, they would use a password, right?
I think I have adult ADHD, how should i present this to my psychiatrist? Please help.? This is long but please read and don't be judgmental, I truly appreciate it. Background: I am a college freshman and after trying a pill of my friends ADHD medication I felt calmed and focused rather than "stimulated" like everyone else normally does. I think I may have ADHD. I then went online and all of the symptoms fit me to a tee. And now in college they are being so aggravated. - While procrastinating I took three online ADHD tests and they all concluded that I have adult ADHD My most frequent symptoms: - I feel so unaccomplished, all my friends and I take the same classes but I spend way more time (2 x 3 times) more then they do on their studies. - I keep missing crucial details in lectures and in class - When I do my reading I have to read each page 3-5 times because while I read I lose my focus and go on "auto pilot" so I have to keep re-reading to understand. - I'm unhappy when I'm not doing something, I just can't have a "free day". I have to go run, eat something, go shopping, I can't just stay in one place or else i feel very depressed. - I understand the material as well as they do but I procrastinate endlessly and end up having to pull all nighters constantly. - I keep forgetting appointments, my school work, homework, and deadlines..things that my parents used to help me with. - I can't just sit down and do my work, I keep making excuses to go workout, eat, tan, just whatever to get away from my work and do something instead of sit in my room or the library. - When I finally get to the library I often just stare at my books even if i force myself to read i just end up staring Additional Info: I have exhibited all of these symptoms by entire life, but my parents never thought that its was bad enough to treat because my grades never suffered, but recently they have been. I'm so overwhelmed and I don't know how to help myself I have a psychiatrist back home, I have anxiety issues as well and I'm currently taking Zoloft. This is why I think I do so well in school because I'm afraid of failing, but there is this constant internal battle. I have to literally almost have a panic attack some days just to get myself to work. My Questions: - How should I tell my doctor about my self diagnosis or should I talk about my symptoms and let her make her own conclusion? - Should I mention trying my friend's medicine? (i'm afraid to because i don't want her to think im college kid just looking for a high....i actually want help and it doesn't have to involve medicine at all) - If i actually have ADHD, how can i convince my parents that its no longer something I can just deal with by myself like they told me to? How can I make them understand that this is a real disease (they think its a medical excuse for bad parenting)? Thank you so much for reading all that!!!!!!!!
