Medical Coding Allied School vs. AAPC? Please Help!? O.K. I have been doing LOTS of research on medical coding schools and I think I have it narrowed down to these two. Allied School or AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders). Does anyone have experience in either of these online schools? I want a school that is accreditted by the AAPC. I've learned that certain companies (kaiser) require an accreditted school.
Medical Assistant online schools-Penn Foster and Allied Health Institute? I am looking into Medical Assisting/Medical Office Assisting/Medical Transcriptionist. Does anyone know if either Penn Foster or Allied Health Institute are good schools for these professions? I know at Alled I'd be able to take the CMA and RMA-but I don't know cost yet. And at Penn Foster, I'd be able to take the RMA, and it's affordable. I'm also looking into SJVC, Mountain State, and Ashworth, so if you know anything about those schools please let me know. I am taking this online because I am expecting, so that's what is easiest for me. I know programs can have a clinical aspect where I have to do it away from home; I'm okay with that.

Medical Transcription program, Please help? I have very important question, I am looking into this MT program to do online. Its called Allied School. They accreditted, Member of the AHDI, and offer job assitance. The problem is it costs a lot $3,800.00. But I heard that for MT you need school with approved AHDI, i found some school with approved AHDI, non-credited, and also have job assitance. That program costs about $1,000.00 less. What is more important for the school to be approved AHDI or accreditted. If the Allied is better then i'll pay the extra, but if the accreditted is not as important then i'll go with the other program (CareerStep). What do you think? Thank you, I need help with this.
Are there any DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHERS out there?!? help please!? Hello, and thank you so much for reading my post. I am currently a Certified Medical Assistant. I am recently graduated and I am looking for work to build up my experience in the Health Care Industry. I have been thinking a lot about furthering my education to become an RN, but what I really want to do is go to school to become a Medical Sonographer. I have done my online research and what I've come up with is: 1. I need to find a school that is CAAHEP accredited. 2. The closest accredited school to me (Sacramento, CA) is Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences in Richmond, CA. This isn't really all that close to me...about 2 hours. So, I went on their website and I found out all the things I need to do in order to enroll in the program and, I must say, it intimidated me a little. It says that there is a large amount of people that apply to get in, and of course there is only a limited number of people that they actually accept. So, I guess my question is...How probable is it that I will become a Sonographer? And, is this really the only option I have as far as schooling? Like I said, I live in Sacramento. If i got into this school how would I even afford to go to school? I guess I'd have to move? I have a toddler and boyfriend that would need to go with me. And as of right now we don't have the money to move. We don't have any family members that would be willing to help us out in that department either. I guess this is more like a sappy realization that I probably will have to settle for that RN rather than achieve my real goal....I could really just use some guidance....Thanks. sunflower - thank you so much for your thoughtful answer....sad to say, i breezed through my MA program. (i had far under a 4.0) It's not that it was particularly hard its just...i HATED my school, it was a rip off and a scam. I know that I am a smart person and would dedicate myself to an institute such as Kaiser....but i really feel like i could never have a chance at a school like that. I guess all i can do is try...? Wish me luck.
Accuplacer, SAT, or ACT Test? my objective is to start at a community college and not transfer to a 4 year college but to simply earn a certificate in medical administrative assistant. which do u think would be the best test to take-accuplacer, SAT, ACT? I read that the accuplacer does not fail or pass you. so does that mean i will be put into a certain math class depending on my score? if i do well , will i be placed in a class no matter what unlike the other tests that actually give you scores? also... i need opinions. getting a medical administrative assistant certificate at an accredited community college or through allied schools accredited online? 500 bucks for allied as opposed to each semester. im sure hands on at a community college is better. has anyone ever done a whole certificate thru online> how did that go for you? i appreciate all opinions and advice. thank-you all!
Taking classes online? I am looking into taking courses for Medical Coding. I am trying to find a local school that provides Financial Aid that will let me take the classes online. I have tried Allied and they do not offer Financial Aid. I have tried CTU, which provides Financial Aid but they say I have to take classes there at least 3 nights a week. We have 3 children and I work a full time job so I don’t have time to go to a school for classes. Anyone have any suggestions? Country- USA State- Missouri or Kansas

I filled out a request for more info for a school called National College..... They called me to let me know they have a medical assisting program..... I asked how much is their program ? They said they can not tell me untill I come in in person and bring my tax returns ??? What is that all about ?? Ever heard of such a thing ? Thanks
I am looking to attend a 2 year Allied Health Program to be an ultrasound technician in Kansas City? The problem is, I am having a hard time finding a school in this area to obtain this degree. Does anybody know where I can begin my 2 years for this? I do not want to take classes online because I prefer the classroom setting. I am actually kinda confused on what steps I need to obtain my future goal. Some websites say that I need a 2 year Allied health program, while others say that I need to get a certificate in Ultrasound/Sonography program. I have searched and searched for days and I keep coming up lost. Anybody know how I may start? What degree do I need to obtain first? Do I need a Medical Assisting Degree? I am so freaking lost.
Accounting degree a possibility for me? Which Online degree? I need to get my Associates degree online because right now my son with his health I need to stay home until he gets a bit older (like a year to 6 months older). I'd prefer something in the medical field like getting my Assoc. degree in science in allied health science so I could later become a nurse or dental hygienist. It's just that I know if I go the medical route there will be more schooling and it just bothers me knowing that I could have gotten both of those occupations in just one shot with an assoc. the first time and a bachelors degree is helpful but not necessary for those professions. My husband thinks being an accountant would be much more lucrative, which I agree. I'm just extremely intimidated by the course work since I'm just okay to bad at math. I know I can do it but there will be tons of nights crying because I can't figure out the math problem or I don't understand the concept of macroeconomics. Waiting isn't really much of an option, otherwise I would just wait it out for a year. Thanks for help in advance.
University of Phoenix? I'm thinking about getting an associates degree from the University of Phoenix online program. I'm a stay at home mom & that is the best option for me right now. I've read a lot of good & bad reviews about them. I was wondering your opinion on them if you've attended their school, or if you know someone that has, online or at a campus. Were you able to get a job with the degree you received? Right now considering the Associate of Arts with a Concentration in Health Care Administration/Medical Records. I will go through Petra Allied to get the Medical Billing & Coding certificate or anything else to help, if needed, to be more qualified for a position. I'm worried that I'm going to have to repay these loans but not be able to get a job with this degree. I don't want to waste time & money for nothing. Thanks in advance for any info you can give :) I am very committed to doing the work. & that is one of the things I've read, employers don't like degrees from there.
Ultrasound Technician / Radiologist Technician? I started to pursue the health field in High School where I took Vocational Classes for Medical, Dental and Nursing. At the end of the first quarter, we were to select the one we wanted to stay in. I started in Medical and transferred to Health. Graduated and became a CNA. I had since then moved out of that career path and took a office job that paid more money at the time and have been in administrative work ever since. My real passion is to work in the health field again. My interests are Ultrasound tech or Radiology Tech. I didnt pay close attention to the classes required in school needed for if I were to go to college (which I didnt). I only took academic biology in school and dont remember what my grade was. I am looking for a local college to find out the details on taking courses required prior to the actual UT or RT classes. I have no idea where to start or what all I would need to do prior. I read online info from a local community college that said I would have to take a biology and chem or allied health, etc. Any info would be VERY helpful on which path I need to go and who is or has worked in this field. THANKS I knew at one time all the medical terminology and still have my health and medical books from school. However, I know I have a lot more to learn. I am a mom of 2 and work full time. I plan on obtaining my degree for this over the course of a couple years to make it work. I only took Academic Biology in High School, I did not take Chemistry. How do I take those courses at a college prior?
What is the best medical transcription school? I am looking into signing up for an online medical transcription school and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on schools they attended. Where did you go? What was the job placement like after? Any suggestions on which schools are the best. Specifically, I was looking at Allied Health or Career Step. Any info on either of those programs, or a suggestion for another school?
Has anyone gone to or heard of Allied Health Institute? I'm trying to find a school that is legitimate. I want to go for the Medical Office Assistant program but I want to make sure it is a good school and I can't find any reviews online. A local tech college offers it for only a little less and takes a year 1/2 to finish, while Allied Health only takes 6 months and it's online. Please help! thankssss
