Online Medical Classes

medical asst. classes online?

my wife is pregnant with our second child and is going nowwhere as a receptionist at a ford dealer. Due to our income we cannot survive for her to quit work and go to school. We are trying to get our lives straight so we can buy a house but we need her income to grow drastically before we can. i make over $30k a year but as you know that don't get you crap in 2008...she wants to be either a med-tech or medical asst. So, my question is does anyone know of any online colleges to become a certified med-tech or medical asst.?

  1. Well congratulations on your wife's pregnancy! Wishing a healthy and happy baby for the both of you :) There are unfortunately not supposed to be too many jobs for the MA (or medical biller or coder) despite what those private $$ schools proclaim just between us and the wall ;) There may be jobs for a phlebotomist (draws blood) which is usually taught as part of a MA curriculum. It may be hard getting training as a MA online as one needs to learn some clinical skills in a hands-on environment such as the phlebotomy and ekg (electrocardiogram) which test heart waves. Please be very wary about online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, university of phoenix as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.uopsucks.com If still interested in MA, perhaps consider the local county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course). For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ Please make sure whatever career program interested in that it's accredited within the industry. General info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'medical assistants', 'clinical laboratory technologists' (may require associate's/2 year degree) or such.
