Is there an online school I can enroll at for Medical Office Assisting? Also, is that a degree or certificate?

I have a 4 month old son and work full time, plus some weekend work. So I would have to take the class online. i am determined to finish. Thank you so much!

Go to your search engine and type in online schools. It should list the top 20 and then research their degrees. You need to find a school that is accredited and not a recommendation.
University of Phoenix, yes you can get a bachelors, masters, etc.
Try pennfoster.edu they offer a course in Medical Office Assisting online. Hope that helps
I know a lot of schools offer many classes online, but I don't know if you can earn an entire degree or certificate online (if you can, it will either probably be very expensive or it may not be legitimate.). I suggest going to a community college near you and just discuss the options. See how much can be completed online. I know the community college I go to has a day care and they will watch your children while you are in class (and there's no additional charge). It doesn't hurt to talk to sombody about it. I would be very wary of those 'online schools' such as penn foster, stratford career institute and university of phoenix as they are for-profit schools and most employers don't view them as reputable compared to community colleges, major colleges or univ's. And just a word to the wise, I've heard on here that there are not too many jobs for medical assistants, but perhaps one can get another job in a similar field such as medical records clerk(?) Most medical office assistant programs award certificates upon successful completion. Perhaps your local county community college offers such a program and online courses too. You may want to look at the non-credit courses as they may have the medical office assistant course as well. Your local county vo-tech school may also offer the course but not necessarily online.
