Online Medical Classes

im thinking about taking an online course for medical billing and coding is this a good move or a bad one?

im a stay at home mom and i have two children and pregnant with the third and i want a job once i have the baby and i was told by a couple of people that medical billing and coding was a good choice for online schooling and the job was a okay one. what should i do.

1. I am a medical coder and have an associates degree in health information technology. i do not know any coders who "went to school online". I have heard however that many of the online schools aren't actually acredited, so when you are done, you are unable to obtain any type of certification. Unfortunately there are LOTS of scams for online schooling in this field. I suggest www.ahima.org and looking into their distance learning programs. AHIMA is THE source for this career... I have a degree from a local college, but a maintain aRegistered Health Information Technician credential through AHIMA. Also if you are looking for an actual degree in the health information field i know there are several recognized colleges that offer a distance learning program. University of Cincinatti I beieive has one... Please excuse the spelling errors, no glasses right now =) Good luck!
2. I am taking online classes through Ashworth college for medical claims and billing, medical transcription, medical and dental assistant.. I know this is a leget school cause my friend got a certificate from there..thats one reason why I picked this school..Yes I think medical billing and coding is a good move...you can work from home or at the hospital...Congrats on baby #3...good luck with your career move!
3. If America was a civilised country there would be no need for such a course. Civilised countries have their own National Health and everyone pays into the National system from their wages. Therefore there is no need for medical insurance although it is available and there are some private hospitals here in Great Britain. I would not use them however. What does the American Government spend Americas money on? We all know that though don't we. Best of luck, look after the children and if you are unmarried don't have any more.
