Online Medical Classes

Allied Health Institute-Medical Assistant program. Has anyone gone here/heard of them?

I am going to attend for their medical assistant program. Don't know anyone who has gone there. Has anyone heard anything about this school? They are online, but it is accredited by ABHES, and is perfect minus it is pretty expensive. If anyone knows of any other good online medical assistant programs, let me know!

  1. I haven't heard of them but I know it requires an associates degree to sit for the exam, in which you get a registry or certification. Honestly I sat for the CMA and never had formal education for this, you can do on the job training. If I were going to go this route I would go to nursing school. Because for one MA do the same thing as nurses, same amount of school only with half the pay. This is why doctors are so eager to hire them.
  2. Please note that there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for the MA (or medical biller or coder) despite what those $$ tech schools say. The only program that I would possibly consider is the local community college and perhaps they offer an online program. Please forgo those pricey programs especially since there aren't too many vacancies as it is. Please also steer clear of those online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, stratford career, capella, university of phoenix, kaplan (perhaps allied health) as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search. US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ (I searched for that particular school and found a few complaints posted at http://www.complaints.com/Allied-Health-Institute-207374/I-got-ripped-off-too-207803.html )
