Medical Transcription Business?

I m getting ready to start a Medical Transcription business. I wanted to know: 1. How to offer a toll free number that physicians can call and dictate the patient reports? Is such service readily provided by a third party company? 2. What software to use to provide a web based access to files? Again, are their readily off the shelf softwares available for that? Appreciate any help!

1. As far as software goes, check out NCH Swiftsound software and StartStop (not positive about them). If you wish to provide web-based service, you must be absolutely certain that you provide the security and privacy required by HIPAA, including hosting servers, etc. A large portion of your starting finances should be invested in security and in creating the necessary documents and forms that must be signed by both your company and the doctor's office. These forms should be drawn up by a lawyer experienced in HIPAA. In my experience, the doctors I know and have worked with are very reticent to use any web-based service because of the security risk.
