Do the medical terms acute, chronic and recurrent refer to pathology?

What one word could be used to describe how the terms acute, chronic and recurrent are used by the medical field. I think pathology but I'm not sure. example, the disease pathology is acute So one word to describe all three terms would be what?

  1. I think that you are mistaken. These are descriptive terms as your own example shows. Pathology itself is a functional process.
  2. acute and chronic describe the history of the pathology or injury. acute means new onset, suddenly occuring. Chronic means ongoing, has been happening for a while.
