medical terms? plz answer if you work in medical fields or knew it. i dont need googl's answers ?

im' about to finish my medical terminology class. and still i don't understand the differences between some terms? here they ar, sarcoma, carcinoma, malignant,benign, neoplasm -plasty(suffix), i know all this have to do with cancer but, i don't understand the difference due to lack of my english. try to simplify if you could plz

  1. OK so some of these terms mean the same thing... Carcinoma-is cancer Malignant-means it is cancer Benign means it is NOT cancer Sarcoma-a malignant tumor growing from connective tissues, such as cartilage, fat, muscle, or bone Neoplasm-An abnormal growth or tissue, as a tumor Hope this helps, Jenn
  2. 1.For neoplasm: neo = new and plasm is cellular growth so neoplasm is a new & abnormal growth pf cells (a tumor) but it can be benign (non cancerous) or cancerous (malignant). 2. For malignant: Mal = bad (maladjusted, malady, etc) so this means another bad growth that is spreading. Malignant means cancerous. 3.plasty: always means to repair; so rhinoplasty (means repair of the nose). 4. Oma means "a swelling" (or a tumor); the prefixes before (sarco = tissue, bone or connective tissue) (carcino = cancer tumor) define where the swelling is.
