I can't get pain meds. What am I supposed to do?

I am 24 years old and I have recently have given birth to a new baby girl. I have since then been diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and fibromyalsia. They also think I may have something else wrong. I have in cronic pain every day of my life. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I cry everyday of my life because of the pain. It hurts to even walk to my kitchen. They wont give me pain medicine because of my ago. My Mother and Brother have the same things as me but they get medicine everyday because they are in the 40's and 50's. The doctors said because of my age they can't get me anything. I don't know what to do. I don't know how I am supposed to live like this. I even had a pain doctor tell me to see a therapist because I was going to be in pain for the rest of my life and I need to learn how to deal with non medically. Do you know of anywhere I can get meds without a doctor? Do any online docs prescribe pain meds? I am desperate.

  1. This won't help you with on-line drugs, because I think they are a rip-off but here are a few links to pain management and info on fibro from medical professionals that can help you http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fibromyalgia/DS00079 http://www.nih.gov/ http://health.discovery.com/centers/pain/pain.html http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chronic-pain/AR00017
  2. if you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia there is no reason you shouldnt be on something. cymbalta an antidepressant and neurontin are sometimes prescribed for pain in your case even though they are not actually pain meds, they help. you could get a physical therapy script, a therapist could give you massages, insurance could cover it, if you are able you should invest in a hot tub......and a new doctor. you cannot legally get the kind of meds you need without a doctor, and if u manage to i wouldnt trust them. if you are suffering from depression (common after birth) that can cause alot of pain too.
  3. you need to find another doc, there are all kind of things they can give you to help with the pain, there are pain management clinics that do nothing but help people in your position. call your insurance company and ask for one that is in your network and call and make an appt to speak to a doc, there is no reason for any one to live in pain in this day and age,
  4. I have never heard this before. I have been a nurse for 32 years and I have many young people with chronic pain problems. I have never seen one that was not getting medication from their doctors. Change doctors.
  5. Visit another doctor and ask for a second opinion. With todays Medical technology, treatment is very possible. Dont lose hope. Lots of information on pain management is widely available on the internet. I was looking in alot of different pain and injury blogs and came across this Actipatch thing. Its non-invasive and drug free. Im getting alot of good reviews about the product. Why dont u check it out?
