Under 18 jobs in healthcare?
Any one know of some jobs that get a good ol foot in the door into healthcare? Of course most people under 18 aren't cardiologist qualified so are there any assistant type jobs out there available? you people don't help much. Good job. lol. And yes, i know you have to be certified to do any thing else. it's called 'temporary'. Funny word.

- I doubt a paid job since most health care jobs require certification of some type. A volunteer job would be your best bet or perhaps a clerical type job, but likely nothing to interact with patients.
- It's not an industry where you get your foot in the door and move up. You need to get an education and certified. If anything, it's working as a janitor, reception, cleaning after people, showing people where to go, etc.
- actually, I know a 17-y/o cardiologist don't degrade yourself trying to work as a mere assistant or nurse
- I'll try to help then, but I have to say you're very demanding lol. If you're under 18, the best way I can think of is to try nursing homes or the like. They tend to have a high turnover of staff and usually prefer to take in people with no experience for assistant posts because they can train them to their own way of working. Working in a nursing home will give you experience of feeding patients, wiping bottoms (yes you will definately be required to do that), dealing with tempermental patients in a non-judgemental manner, dealing with their probably more tempermental relatives, you'll get aspects of infection control and safe disposal of sharps, learn how to make beds with patients still in. Phone around, you will need to be police checked and this can take some time, depending on where you live. In NI (where I live) it's currently taking around 4 weeks but this is considered to be very quick. Staff in nursing homes tend not to stay in post for many years, as they do in health care, but it's a good start. This will stand you well if you want to then go on and study nursing, or work in a hospital as a nursing auxiliary. Good for you, you sound like you'd take no cr*p, that's a good trait to have for this type of job.
- Young people don't help much in some cases too! You have to be really earnest in wanting a health care job. This can be very hard work and you have to be reliable with your time. There may be temp employers who could be a way to get your foot in the door.
