What is the future for medical transcription?

hello everyone, i am planning to learn medical transcription on a part time basis as im already working. i have a few questions if anyone could answer please. 1.) does a part time course certificate have same value as that of a full time one? 2.) for how long will i have to work in a company to get enough experience to eventually work from home? 3.) what is a scope of getting jobs abroad in this field? i thank you for your valuable information in advance.

  1. This is a dying profession. Doctor's now have a computer in each examining room and the billing is going direct to the insurance companies. Thus eliminating your job
  2. Learn about the future of Medical Transcription here. there are plenty of jobs.
  3. Most courses allow you to complete the coursework on your own schedule. If you spend full time on it, you complete faster. Just make sure your school is an AHDI-approved school. The large outsource transcription services all utilize home workers. Most also require 1 to 2 years' experience. Getting the initial experience is difficult; the school you graduate from will make a difference in your ability to get your first job. There are some medical transcriptionists who work outside the US but are not "offshore;" i.e., they are US citizens who live abroad, such as military wives. This career is currently being promoted as an excellent one for military wives.
  4. There is only one entity that certifies transcriptionists, and it's not based on part time or full time training. Read an excellent article about this on the website below. Most companies want 2 years experience for home workers. Regarding jobs abroad, it depends on where you're looking. US military hospitals and their associated physicians are a good start. The website below has a ton of information. Not affiliated with any school or product, just good free info.
  5. There is no accredited training institute in medical transcription. You should ideally do a full-time training. However, part-time can be successful too, provided you are too hard working a person. (2) You should at least work 6 months in an office setting before you can start working independently from home. (3) You can get jobs in Middle East with your MT experience but you might not have too much of luck to use MT experience to get visa to countries like UK, Australia, USA, or Canada. However, you can get a job provided your husband has a visa and if you are looking for a job when you are there and again if you have a visa which allows you to work. Hope that helps.
