Is mandatory healthcare the first time in US history that we Americans will be forced to pay to be alive?

Pay just to breathe? I haven't been to a doctor in over 20 years and am in perfect heath. I also don't believe in modern medicine and will allow nature to take it's course if I become ill enough that my body cannot overcome. Why should I pay? Why will I be fined if I don't?

  1. this is america and people have choices. if someone chooses not to get coverage, then they should not receive treatment or expect it. that includes illegal aliens.
  2. "I haven't been to a doctor in over 20 years and am in perfect health" You couldn't possibly know that without going to the doctor. Just say "no major problems I'm aware of" Its a more intellectually honest statement.
  3. Im in the same boat as you. Im 27, I eat right, I exercise moderately, and I take care of myself. I dont smoke or drink alchohol. I go for my check-ups once a year, which I pay the $150 out of pocket. I dont see why, if I take care of myself, and pay for my own checkups, to be forced to buy healthcare or recieve a fine.
  4. Yes. Just don't fart, they'll tax that too. i think the Beatle's had a song about this.
  5. If you haven't been to a doctor in 20 years, you have no idea whether in perfect health. My guess is, you're not. Anyhow, it's unlikely that we'll have "mandatory health care."
  6. I agree that fining those who choose not to buy health insurance is wrong. It may not be in your best interests to not have health insurance, but that should be your choice and it should not be mandatory.
  7. This sh/t will stop or I will be dead one or the other. I pay cash for the Dr when I go every ten years or so.
  8. The fact that you proudly state that you haven’t been to the doctor in 20 years says it all!
  9. I believe there is a bill in the House right now that will tax athletes for using more air than people who don't exercise. That would be more to your point than the healthcare issue.
  10. "I also don't believe in modern medicine and will allow nature to take it's course if I become ill enough that my body cannot overcome." Well, G_d Bless ya. Good luck.
  11. Absurd!!!! In order to keep alive you must either buy food or have some means to produce food. You are taxed when you buy food and you are taxed if you own land. About your health... If you ever do get cancer or some terminal illness, I imagine you are going to get treatment. Even if you were willing now to promise you wouldn't, it wouldn't be fair for people to deny you service because you had made such an agreement in health. In order to pay for those future highly likely costs, you need to start paying now. That's it. It is insurance, not membership in a health club. You must protect yourself and the insurance pool against catastrophic costs.
  12. You'll never convince them. Most people don't understand individual liberty and that it trumps all other laws. They've been duped into being good little global citizens now.
  13. What about taxes?
  14. Because when the idiots get sick, need surgery that costs us thousands. If you have no insurance, where are you getting 30 to 450,000 or more for surgeries depending on what it is??? You people have no clue, us medical people see it all the time.
