If you think socialism is so evil, does the internet's communitarian spirit bother you?

It seems so many brainwashed and uneducated Americans actually rejected the idea of socialized medicine, which all other countries have, mostly because Americans are so terribly frightened of "socialism." (The police, fire dept, and infrastructure are all socialistic.) So how come getting lots of great freeware, free support groups and learning programs, internet libraries and blogs, free organizations - even free professional consultations and low cost peer-to-peer university education - doesn't "oppress" and offend all of these morally true and ernest Capitalists? The internet turns out to be an amazing opportunity for people to learn and advance when they had not such possibilities before. Should we put a stop to this "free community" stuff and start charging everyone lots of money to do anything online? Please consider that France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand ..... all have a great deal of socialism, with great socialized health care. It's caused "democratic socialism." It is not what was in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union or is still in mainland China. Do some reading. Nazi Germany and North Korea were/are "national socialism," which involves tyranny, not democracy. Learn the terms involved.

2. Rather silly. Socialized medicine is inhumane. It makes judgment calls on who is "worth" the treatment. *"Conservative Redneck" - you're speaking of coverage, vs. care. And you have actually proven the point I keep trying to make - we need reform to protect patient rights, not Obamacare that will affect treatment.

7. You are confusing socialism with socializing. As for your weak examples: freeware, discussion groups, and information are offered by choice. No one is using the force of law to take them from someone to distribute to others.

9. The open source software movement does indeed show that people will work if they find the work interesting and useful and feel it promotes feelings of community and solidarity. This puts the lie to the view of supporters of capitalism that nobody would work in a Socialist society.

11. I reject the idea of being forced to pay & use what I don't want. It's un-American. Give me a choice. & if your friends jumped off a cliff, would you, too? Just because some other country duz it doesn't mean we should.
