What is the best online program for medical transcription?
Would like to entertain the idea of working on a certificate in the field of medical transcription. I would like to take medical terminology. Any program that you might have used and felt helped secure a job or a work at home .

- There is an online guide to choosing a medical transcription course of study on the website below. There, you will learn the difference between getting a certificate and being "certified" Big difference. Plus how to find an accredited school. Not affiliated with any school, just good free info.
- Only terminology not sufficient to get job in MT, you should be good at listening. You have to hear different dictations/accents and type. It is better to exposue lot of dictations and different accents through practice from good institute online/office.
- I trained with Meditec.com and was very happy with the training. Good luck to you.
- I researched online medical transcription schools before selecting one for myself, and I believe the best is "The Andrews School." (Go to http://andrewsschool.com). Linda Andrews is the Director, and they have some of the BEST instructors around! They have two different programs--either Medical Transcription or Medical Coding. The Medical Transcription course is challenging, but they work with you until you "get it." But, you have to be willing to do the footwork. Many of the companies that hire medical transcriptionist know that Andrews graduates are some of the BEST out there, and some of them will hire you as a new graduate rather than requiring years of experience. For one price, you get all the books and CDs you'll need, a USB pedal to plug into your computer, step-by-step instructions (and instructors who will help you along the way), access to a student message board that you can use as a student as well as after you graduate, etc. The only other thing you need besides your computer would be a headset, and they don't provide those because everyone prefers their own type of headset. I personally love the Maxell HPNC-III Noise Cancellation headphones which are lightweight. I think I bought mine on Ebay for around $20-$25. Good luck in your search for a school and in your career!
