  1. I am taking online classes for medical transcription. I am going through Ashworth College. www.ashworthcollege.edu it is the cheapest school I have found so far. I am actually taking 2 different courses. Medical transcription, medical claims and billing, medical and dental assistant. lol I know I am taking alot of classes... anyways ashworth is a self paced school. You can get down with medical transcription within a couple months or take your time and they give you up to like 2 years..I really like the school..if you enroll than email me and we will both get a $50 marked off of our tuition...good luck!
  2. Sorry but there is no guarantee you will get a job within the field you are studying. That is everyones hope that they will receive a job geared toward their training, but in this job market...don't count on it.
  3. I trained w/ Meditec.com. They have an internship program to help you get working right after graduation.
  4. Accreditation is everything. It covers your 1,2 and 3.
  5. "Best one" is going to be pretty subjective. But start by deciding (if you haven't already) which type of school you want to attend. There are local junior/technical colleges all over the country which have excellent 1-1/2 to 2 year courses and will probably be your best bet for getting a job at a local hospital as well as at companies who hire you to work from home. Then there are the online, study-from-home courses. Which one? Research the companies who do the hiring - they will often say on their "Careers" page that they will accept graduates of such-and-such institution. Ask any online school you are considering what percentage of graduates get jobs soon after graduating - you can bet they have that information at their fingertips! In my own personal opinion (and in alphabetical order), the big 3 are Andrews, M-TEC, and CareerStep. And one final word - a home-study course is really tough to get through. It'll take a year of consistent effort and sometimes it's hard to keep up your motivation. Most will allow you (for an extra fee, of course) to extend the time you're allowed to complete it. Good luck in your training!
