  1. my sql is free and it is available on internet u can get the tutorials also here
  2. try to convert to sql related databases, mysql for example have a tons of online documentation and the setup is very easy. with a tons of online example how to implement it in different languages. I use for example MS SQL on SQL Server 2000, and it's performance is very good. U can start using oracle that has a better performance. Usually SQL related databases are nowadays the most popular. Access has it's own SQL language but the security is very weak. My opinion is to start using MySQL or MS SQL on SQL Server 2000 or 2005 (more faster and more reliable).
  3. mysql is free, powerfull and Essy to use and install and there is a lot of forum tutorials help centers about it.
  4. Depending on how you want to use the information and how much of it there is, I use MS Outlook then export to Excel as a .CSV file.
  5. MySQL- the best database management software. Its free to download & user-friendly. Nowadays, this database app. usually used in busininess computing Oracle -- common database app.
