Are there any sites for free online training to be a hairstylist?

- No, you need hands-on training to learn that skill. I'm in my 2nd year of it and there is way too many things you would need to verify and show to your teacher to make sure you are doing it right. There is no way someone can teach you to do a proper up-do over the computer honey. If you want to go learn to be a hairstylist, find a school and do it right.
- No, honey. Even if you found something like that it wouldn't be legit. You can watch free videos on youtube to learn how to do things, but to get an actual hairdresser license you have to go to school. Each state has their own standards for a license. For example I live in WA and I had to go through 1600 hours of training and then take my written and technical state board exams. You can not even (legally) get paid to touch hair without a license. However, some states offer an apprenticeship program in lieu of going to school. You can work at a salon and make minimum wage assisting and learning. Usually apprenticeships require a lot more hours (I believe it is 5,000, but I am not certain) and are not available in every state. Check your state's requirements for more information. There are also lots of financial aid and scholarship opportunities available, you just need to look for them.
