how do I convince my parents to get a dog?

I know I am responsible enough, I have studied on every breed like by spending hours reading online about them as well as going to the library and checking out a book about every breed. I read all of the books, about 2000 pages. I do a lot of chores, I: take care of two cats maintain an aquarium do most of the cleaning around the house water the plants do my own laundry I do this all at about 5 am. I also take a walk (1-2 miles) every morning or right after school. I have some free time and I think a dog would be an excellent edition to my life. I would just love one! my older brother had a dog when he was younger and he loved it. And I had a dog when I was about 2 or 3, however I think it's unfair because I never really got to see what having one was like and I was to young to take advantage of having a dog and play with him and teach him tricks. The only memories of him I have was when I use to walk with him on a leash in the yard. He was a french bulldog. my parents don't like the idea because: -dogs cost money- I cant get a job because i'm too young so I will pay for it with allowance. This ends up being them paying for it, but I would still spend that money anyways, probably on junk that I don't need . Why not on a great companion? -it would scratch furniture- I would train him not to, boast him - it would need to be walked- I take a walk every day. - they think I would get bored of it. - it will take me 5 months to raise the money, if I keep interest in dogs I think I will not get bored. - afraid of house breaking difficulties- I want an older puppy, maybe 6 months old or older. It is easier that way and it will probably come house broken.if not, then I will train it with the help of the internet c= -I am not responsible enough- I think I am. I take care of two cats and I simply want a compainion that is more active and easily trainable, also one that likes to go an walks since I do that anyways. What is there to taking care of my cats? litter box, grooming (they shed,a lot), playing, feeding, training (they are not like dogs and cat roll over or anything but they still need to learn what is wrong and write),love, expenses. Dogs are similar. I think I can handle a dog, I have done my reaserch. the problem is they never listen to what I say. My dad also says this stuff about dogs and cats not getting along and I tell him they can be best friends and sleep together but they never listen to me. I am making a big presentation about chihuahuas. right now it's about 12 slides explaining the pros and cons.I will add on information on weekends like their history and breed standards. I think it will be impressive but I am not sure that they will care. I am also researching papillons and making a presentation about them. I know that they will fall in love with the dog if we get it, after a day or two. They are those type of people. for example : I bought a fish to put in my aquarium and my mom hated it. It was a pictus cat fish, with a silver body and black spots. It moved around supper fast. After a few days of having it my mom fell in love and admitted It was her favorite fist. well............ I am working hard and I really want a chihuahua or papillon. How do I convince them? have any tips?

  1. Just tell your parents that you really want a dog and that you would wait until you were older but tommorow isn't garunteed and then if you can think of something sad and start crying or even before you ask just work up some tears or somethin and stuter when you say this and be like mommy daddy i just want one so we can be closer cuz i feel like we dont spend enought time with each other and ireally wnat us to be closer. Sire you might feel a little guilty more trikin them like that but most likely you'll get tje dog!
  2. I don't know what to tell you, it seems you have everything covered. Usually I tell people just to wait till theyre old enough to move out and get their own animal but if you were my kid I would get you a dog, only if everything you have said is truthful. I still don't always do my own laundry, i have my husband do it most of the time and I never take walks unless the dog needs one.
  3. You should bring it up in a comfortable time and say everything you wrote here. If you ever wrote persuasive essays, try making it really persuasive. As in, make it sound like you are more responsible than you really are.
  4. you can write a note and presuade your parents to get a dog and if that doesnt work then start a dog walking business so you can be with dogs and raise money to get a dog when you get older.
  5. Wow. I must admit that this is one of the longest threads on here that i have read however, I would have to admit that I enjoyed reading it. If I were you the first thing I would do is figure out exactly why they won't let you have a dog. Just simply sit down with both of them and ask them both to give you the actual reason. After you get the exact reasons I would go through each one of the listed items that they have and come up with a solution to each of them as you did in the post above. Make sure that with your answers you ensure them that you are responsible and the experiance of you having a dog will make you even more responsible as you will have to take care of it. Let them know that you are willing to reduce your allowence to make up for the cost of the dog. This will allow them to work around the budget. Sometimes dogs can be very expensive. As you can see in my picture next to my name I have a German Shephard and his name is Tyler. He eats all the time if there is food on the ground. We have to fill up his bowl with the exact amount that we want him to eat. If you do get a dog, i am going to tell you to make sure the dog has plenty of toys, these can be old stuff animals, or $1 clearance toys from walmart. This will help reduce him chowing on furniture. Good luck. Guru www.computer911support.com
  6. Show them you are responsible and that you really want this dog and I don't think you should beg because it might get them more annoyed. So I hope this helped.
