Online Medical Classes

I am lost between Art & Medicine ( Please I Really need advice )?

Ok first of all I just want to say that English is not my native language , so please no criticizing when it comes to my grammar and spelling lol . I'm a medicine student that is not interested in being a doctor , interring med school was my last decision but under pressure from parents ( it wasn't forced , it was just pressure) when I graduated from high school I had my chance to choose any major I wanted but my mother's dream for me to be a doctor kind of played with my mind ... anyway I go to Med school and realize how stupid I am for doing so since it's not my passion what so ever ... I pass pre med and get a scholarship for the next 6 years in med school now of course my parents are beyond happy about that and when I told them I didn't want to continue they said fine but we will not support u or pay for any college you go to so I had no choice but to stay thinking I have to get a college education right? Here's my dream I want to study Visual Communication and specialize in Audio & Film by the time I graduate I'll be 24 years old and after my internship I'll be 25 years old I'am now 19 years old almost done with the 1st semester of 1st year Medicine I want to know if it's possible for me to take credit hour courses in visual communication online every summer and maybe continue for my bachelors after I graduate? and if so can you please give me details on how to do that exactly and what are the expenses If I drop out of med school now I'll break off my relations with my parents and to me that is not worth it what I'm trying to do is benefit from med school by learning how god created man kind will influence my art and educate me in life in general , is it a waste of time? am I doing the right thing? they say if you want to truely follow your dreams you have to pay a price... but breaking off relations with my parents is a price I really don't want to pay . Please give me information of visual communication courses online ( credit hours) that I could do durring summer vacation :) & am I doing the right thing??? Thank you for your answers x

  1. You need to follow your own dreams, period. If your parent's relationship really relies on what you are in life then it's not that strong of a bond and is obviously not worth keeping. Parents are parents, but if they are not willing to accept your choice and abandon you, they are being poor parents. You only live life once, you only get one shot, so why not do what you REALLY want to do. Don't fool yourself with your parent's dreams. They are not yours so you should not consider them. By the sounds of it, if your parents weren't pushing you, you'd be on that art's major train asap! So what if they don't help you out? Get loans and scholarships, get your job and pay it off as time goes by. Would you rather work in a career you love for a year or two to pay off all loans, or would you rather have a job you hate? Don't make excuses why you want to go to med school, because it's obviously not your ideal education. The art world needs you! :)
  2. In my opinion, you can never really make it in a major that makes you miserable. Sooner or later you'll get tired of being miserable and crash and burn. I don't think it's a mistake to change majors. If your parents cut you off, they cut you off. I think it is worth it to stand up to them and let them know it's your life, not theirs. I would advise looking into financial aid to pay for the Visual Communication thing. It'll be hard and will take a lot of courage, but it's worth it to fulfill your dream (if you're positive that's your dream -- don't do all this unless you're sure). Unfortunately, I don't know anything about that major, so I can't really answer any of the actual questions you have. This is just my two cents. Sorry.
