Online Medical Classes

Has anyone out there taken a medical transcription course through TechSkills which is located nationwide?

I have just completed the medical transcription course and also have taken and passed a CMT exam, only to find out that it is not worth the paper it is printed on. This course does not properly prepare you for the real world of medical transcription and I have not been able to pass any on-line employment tests. Has anyone else wasted $7,000, which will be $9,800 by the time I get it paid off? I have found out through The American Association of Medical Transcription that their organization is the ONLY association that a person can test and receive the CMT credential. The CMT credential is a patented trademark for The AAMT not The National Healthcare Associaton of which I had taken and received the false CMT certification. I could use some advise, is there anything I can do to get my money back and stop this from happening to anyone else? I have already contacted the AAMT and they have not really investigated this like I thought they should. I cannot afford an attorney.

1. I am so sorry, I don't know what to tell you. There should be something you can do legally, if they misled you. I have been seriously thinking about taking the course myself, but after your question, I will certainly check into it further. If you can't afford an attourney,(which I certainly wouldn't be able to do either), maybe you could get some help from legal aid. Have you checked with the Better Business Bureau?

As far as the AAMT, they have a search option on MTStars--do some research and see what you find other people have gone through, maybe even a way to help you with your issue.
