Online Medical Classes

I am thinking of transitioning to medical instead of the overcrowding of accounting. How hard would it be?

Currently I have an accounting background, but I am wanting to possibly change to medical (a field that seems to keep growing). I am thinking of taking an online class for ICD-9 coding, and possibly doing a medical assistant online diploma. What other ways would I transition? I want to get in the medical field, but not sure how to start. I know that even to be a receptionist in a medical office requires at least a year of experience. Thanks.

  1. Hello Flowers! What ever you do, please, for the love of God do NOT enroll in any online medical assisting program. Most of them are SCAMS! You need to officially go to a school and get hands on training. You cannot do that online. Some courses that are in demand in allied health care are * CNA * Phlebotomist * Patient Care Tech Medical assisting is also good - you get to draw blood, do EKG's and work front and back office as well. Good luck in your choices!
  2. medical coding and billing is a really good one. I live in Indiana and they are in DESPERATE need for medical billing and coding. DOn;t do Nursing, so many people are doing Nursing, eventually, there won't be enough jobs. My Dad has been a RN for 33 years and said it pays well, but sometimes the pay isn't worth the gossip, lawsuits, and drama, you have to put up with.
