Online Medical Classes

Do you think that putting medical records online will lower costs or just result in more lawsuits on privacy?

One of the ideas being batted around in congress to streamline or improve efficiency in lowering medical costs is to put patients records online so that information is more readily accessible at clinics, emergency rooms and state and federal offices. Do you think that the supposed reduction in medical and administrative costs will be worth all the potential privacy invasion and loss of personal security that will come from thousands of new people suddenly having more access to your medical history and personal information?

3. Yea, lets just put them online ... its not like hackers can get into them or anything.
4. It will open up a whole new can of worms with privacy issues and identity theft (because anyone who can access the database can access your information)
5. No not to mention the loss of jobs from the conversion. Once you put something online misinformation and security are questionable.
6. Good question. It's a very tricky fine line, isn't it? It's a good idea in theory, but they'd have to have one heck of a security system installed.
7. It would be great. & what a knowledge base for researchers. But security is not good & people, especially the gov't CANNOT be trusted with that kind of information.
8. If they put these records online, someone can get into them. Young kids are breaking into the pentagon's computer system on a regular basis for Gods sake, what makes them think they cant get into these ? I don't think it's a good idea to do this . If we want to lower medical cost, we need an aggressive style tort reform. God bless.
