Does anyone know of any good, reasonably priced, online medical transcription courses I could take?
Hi! I'm thinking about taking online courses to go into the medical transcription field. My friend just recently enrolled in one and it's only costing her 175.00 for the transcription training and then another 175.00 for the coding training. I tried to enroll where she did, and now the classes are filled up! Anyone know of any online courses I could take that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks~Deb:)

- The medical environment holds a rich vein of different careers from the obvious nurse and doctor careers to adminstrative careers. My sister wanted to work in this field, but she wasn't certain precisely what she wanted to do. She uncovered the site in the resource box below, it has lots of tips and tricks, and it aided her to settle what she wanted to do. They have assistance with other jobs too.
- As I know, this site has top listing of such college courses online - schools.iblogger.org
- The only online MT program that I would consider is through the local community college as long as the program is accredited within the industry. Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (course credits may Not transfer to other schools either) such as penn foster, career step, university of phoenix, strayer, ITT tech, kaplan, ashworth, walden, sanford brown, everest, stratford career and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit': http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search. Please also forgo those private $$ career/tech schools and instead consider the county vo-tech school or community college as long as the program is accredited within the industry. For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search.
- There are several good online medical transcription courses. You should only choose courses approved by AHDI, as these schools offer the best chance of getting a job when you have graduated. Most jobs require experience and the AHDI-approved schools are recognized by employers, giving you a better chance of actually getting a job. There's no point in spending even $175 and the time it takes to do the coursework if you can't get a job when you're done.
