Online Medical Classes

Does anyone know of any reputable home-based medical transcription companies?

I currently work for Medquist Transcription company as a home-based medical transcriptionist for ten years. I have not gotten a raise in over 6 years and actually have gotten decreases in pay for the last three years so that the company could "keep up with the competition". I am looking for another medical transcription company to work for as I need an increase in income as well as the flexibility and the ability to work from home as I have a son who is disabled. Please let me know if anyone knows of any companies that aren't going to rip me off such as paying hundreds of dollars for start up programs, etc. Companies that provide equipment is a plus (Medquist provides me with a computer). Just to add to prevent confusion, I am already working as a medical transcriptionist which I have been doing for over 20 years. I already work as a medical secretary during the day. I'm just looking for an alternative reputable company to work for as a home-based transcriptionist.

We work on a contract basis so you can pick and choose what you want to do and when you want to do it. Which sounds like it would be a good fit with you, as it suits people with day jobs - they can do overnight work - or people who want some more income during the weekend. You sound like you have had some good experience so it would be great to have you on board!
2. First you need to educate yourself on all that's available that you would be interested in doing. There are more ways to earn online than there stars in the sky. Well, maybe not that many but it can be over whelming. I started by signing up for all the newsletters, mini-courses and such that I could find. You will filter throught them till you find the ones that appeal to you. Once you find something you are interested in, you have to make a decision that will call you to action. If you can't do this, and you only wish and talk about wanting, then you will never have what you want.

4. Unfortunately, many medical transcriptionists are experiencing this. You should network with other MTs and get recommendations from them. Generally, only the larger companies provide computers, but MedQuist isn't the only company that does it.
