Highly recommended virtual horse game?

I joined a site called dog dayzz a few months ago and it's a pretty good game where you run your own kennel and can breed, train.etc... your dogs. Anyway I'm trying to find a free online horse game that's similar to dog dayzz. I tried virtual horse ranch but it's a little a dull and white oak stables doesn't seem to be that great. I'm thinking of trying another game called Howrse which seems to be similar to what I'm looking for. But I could use some recommendations. I've been going for horsemanship lessons for almost a month now and was thinking of recommending a game like howrse for the students to play when they're not actually with the horses since I know a few of them and the trainers. Any suggestions?

  1. I actually do play Howrse lol, and it sounds very similar to the dog one that you have described. Players get to raise, train and breed their own horses and eventually run an Equestrian centre if they choose to (after they have passed certain levels). They also get to enter their horses in competitions against other players' horses. They get to do riding levels every 10 days, up to level 5 at day 40, then 20 days up to level 9 at day 120. Riding level 10, at day 200 is the last one. These test their general knowledge of horses. If they do not know the answers however, they can be found at howrseinfo.com, as well as other information to help on the site. That particular one is not officially affiliated with Howrse though, but is the most recommended. Although there is little to do on the game when a player first starts, after day 10 and as they progress, more of the site becomes available. There are also "achievements" on the site, which act like a guide and players get rewarded for passing each one, plus each level. These are optional, but so users learn, it's best to do them. There is a lot of information on the site and there is also a game play forum if they get a little "lost" in knowing what to do or where to find something. Most users are friendly and the site is moderated by volunteer players, who are chosen by the game administrators (they also play the game, but are paid employees of Owlient). To different between them, normal players and admin, moderators and admin's usernames appear at the top of the forums. Admin is bolded in black print and mods are in green print. Mods are the ones that try to keep the game safe and fair for all players on the site and sometimes even admin try to help when they have time The game is also recommended by world horse jumping champion, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and last year it even won a browser game of the year award If you are going to recommend a game for your students, then I suggest trying it out first so you have a rough idea of what they might be getting themselves into. It should also be noted that there are players from all walks of life/various ages who play Howrse - some that own/have owned horses in real life and some that never have.
