When healthcare prices rise, are more or less people able to afford it?

Why dont liberals take a basic economics course. When you force consumers to purchase a product (unconstitutional), it causes the price of the service to rise (the insurance companies can charge whatever they want). When healthcare prices skyrocket, less people are able to afford healthcare not more. Why dont Democrats understand basic math? 1. I buy my healthcare with cash and I get charged double or triple what the doctor bills to an insurance company! What does your "economics course" say about that?
  2. By that logic, since everyone HAS to buy it, wouldn't they try to offer the lowest price possible? I mean knowing that they have to buy it, knowing that they will buy it, why not try and get the lowest price so that they end up choosing you over someone else?
  3. James, it is you that needs to take that course.
  4. Basic supply and demand. However, the theory behind the bill is that costs are going to go down because there's going to be less people going to the emergency room and billing the American people for their care...what I don't get is that how are people who can't afford insurance right now be able to afford it before enough people have bought into the pool to make costs go down?
  5. so, did auto insurance skyrocket when everyone had to buy it? did you ever think insurance, due to the risk, maybe works a little differently? and maybe some things don't go by the basic rules? basic math dictates that the higher tax rate, the more tax revenue you will gain? does that work out that way?
  6. The middle class and the elderly will be the ones most hurt by this new health system that just passed. As Nancy Pelosi said she just can't wait till it passes so she can see what is in it! What a way to do things!
