- the book is free from your dmv
- I just got my cdl from swift trucking,,,in Memphis i have nothing but good to say about the school so far,,it took me about 30 days for everything,,I'm leaving Sunday to go out with my mentor for 6 weeks ,,then i get my own truck,,swift cost me $3,900 they will take out 30.00 a week for a yr, they will pay the other half...if i stay with them for 2 yrs they will pay me back,,,the pay is all about the same with the other companies,,,good luck
- Yep check with your local exam station. That should have everything you need. The written test is pretty much common sense. Good Luck....
- I agree, keep reading and re-reading the CDL Book from your state's DMV. EVERYTHING IS in there that you will need to know to pass written tests and pretrip inspection. About the only thing that you won't be able to do is learn how to drive a split range transmission (takes practice, but gets easier) or practice bacing a trailer. More and more states are requiring a driver's training course, choose carefully as some can be quite expensive for the length of the course.
