2. The big question with medical billing /practice management software is what is your budget? How big is your practice? What are your MUST HAVE pieces of functionality? (pracitce management, claims submission adjudication & processing, scheduling, provider\prescriber management, billing, referral mgmt etc) Do you need a web based solution or a windows based program? Do you need just a small database or a large solution for a hospital? I've been writing healthcare & pharma systems for about 10 years now. I can tell you there are tons and tons of pre-built systems out there ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few hundred thousand dollars.
