Online Medical Classes

Does anyone know of any legitimate at home Medical Transcription jobs?

I just finished my training and I am having a hard time finding employment.

  1. It is difficult at first, so know that you're not alone! A lot will depend on where you live and what kinds of medical facilities are nearby. If you are looking for your own local doctor to transcribe for, then make up a flyer and start distributing them to medical offices. A lot of them will be grouped around hospitals. (Hint: Take a few expensive chocolates wrapped in cellophane and a bow to leave with your flyer.) But, you also have to know how much you're going to charge and whether you are going to provide a digital recorder or pick up their tapes every day. If you want to work full time for a national company that has benefits, that will be harder because most of them require experience since there won't be anyone holding your hand as you learn the ropes. You can do a search for medical transcription companies and just start visiting their websites and see whether they will accept people out of school. I'm assuming the school where you got your training doesn't provide help finding employment? Other sources for jobs are mtjobs.com and mtstars.com (click forums and then look for Job Seekers in the left-hand column). Also, try your local newspaper and craig's list. If your local yellow pages has a transcription service nearby, try giving them a call and see if they're willing to "train" someone fresh out of school. It's not easy, but it's not impossible. Don't be too picky at first. Your first job may end up being your last, but look at it more as a way to gain that all-important experience. After that, if you're reliable and good at transcribing, then it becomes easy to find your dream job.
  2. Hi there! I know the search can be difficult. In fact, I've been searching myself, and in the process, am about to release an eBook with a comprehensive list of almost 500 transcription companies looking to hire. I'm almost done putting the list together and will be selling it soon, hopefully this month or next (end of April at the latest)! Go to amy-jamie.com to find my contact information, and let me know if you're interested. I can then email you with a link to purchase once it goes live. :)
  3. I know Meditec.com will take graduates of other programs for their internship program. You may want to look into that to help you to get started.
