Can I get a medical transcription job without the official training?

I am an RN with excellent typing and computer skills. I have not taken any medical transcription courses. I feel like I am completely capable of medical transcription, but will any company hire me without any actual courses? There are so many courses available online I can't tell if they are a scam or not (does anyone actually find work after completing the courses). Thanks.

1. No, no one will hire you except for possibly a small physician's office. Hospitals and all online companies require knowledge in medical transcription itself, from schooling, as well as on-the-job experience in the field.
