- Yes, it is. You need to be able to accurately calculate doseages of medications. If being a nurse is your dream, don't let 'being crap at math' stop you. Get tutoring help, there are ways to surmount that.
- Prepare to study HARD EVERYDAY! Most people can't work while in nursing school, so I would get your ducks in order before you decide to take the plunge. It also depends on where you want to work as a nurse. There are endless opportunities out there. You might have to start out somewhere you don't want to pay back student loans. Nursing homes usually make $$$. You can go to LPN school for 9-12 months and then apply to RN school you will have a better chance of getting in. Then if you don't get into RN school right away you can still make decent $$ and get experience while working. I'm pretty sure you don't need many if any college credits to be an LPN ( I live in FL so check your state) but you will need many college credits for an RN or higher. I'm in PTA school, so I know how challenging going into the health field is. It's amazing how much you need to know. Don't let any of this scare you! Anything in life worth wanting takes hard work. Helping people and acquiring the knowledge of the human body is the best feeling in the world. No drug could ever feel this good! LOL.... You can do it and good luck to you!
